help needed on a fun project, all opinions needed!

I have a long time love of rose gold, and now that it's popping up more and more, and so are light brown/champagne diamonds, i wanted to have some fun with a not-too expensive little project.

I bought this bad boy from the 'bay for a low low price (vendor has a great return policy and multiple thousands of positive feedback) and it was graded as an L-M light brown. From the pictures (and because I had ebay bucks!) I decided to take a chance and now I have this very cute, chameleon like stone to play with.

Specs: .47 CT, L-M light brown ( seems much darker to me!), SI2, 6.5 x 4.5

Now the help: how should i set it? what color gold (rose or yellow)? Necklace or ring? So many options!

The one thing I would like to stay away from is setting it with melee- one, because I want to keep the cost of this little project down and two, because i want to make the color of this stone the star.

Such a fun project, and such a cute stone!
Does the stone look better next to rose gold or yellow gold? I'm sure one of the two is more flattering to the color of your pear.
Have you tried putting it next to those two colors just to see?
Do you want to always be able to look at it on your hand, or would prefer the occasional glimpse of it as a pendant in the mirror?

That is a beautiful diamond. Dollyanjuli posted a picture of exactly what I was thinking - a rose gold bezel pendant. I think it would be perfect to showcase your diamond and look very elegant and classy.

BTW, I have a brownish champagne sapphire a little darker than your diamond and it goes really well with rose gold.

Hopedream, I have darker olive skin ( I'm Indian!) so both yellow and rose gold suit me. When I put the stone next to yellow gold, it very much takes on a more golden hue. When I put it net to rose gold, it seems to become less saturate in color but more bronze-like. I think either would suit it, but I am leaning towards rose...

Marcy, I like the idea of a the bezel pendant myself! That's where I am headed right now, but it just seems so safe...not sure if I want to try something more adventurous

I love the slightly different look of rings like these:




You could perhaps set the stone in a platinum 'head' and then have it fade into a rose gold 'tail', so it's a bi-colour ring?

Or go 'off the shelf' with this one?
