I've found a setting that my girlfriend and I love at Blue Nile (Riviera Micropavé Sapphire and Diamond) but I'm having trouble finding a diamond I like at their site and I'm concerned about their lack of ASET or idealscope images. My price range for the entire ring is around $7000 Canadian (so something like $6000 USD). I'm looking for a round stone and I'd like to get close to 1 carat if at all possible (0.9 is fine, 0.7 is small)
So, questions:
1) Is it possible to buy the setting from Blue Nile, a diamond from James Allen or Whiteflash and then get them put together into a ring? How difficult would it be? I'm in Calgary, Canada if that matters.
2) I can find "Ideal cut" I/SI1 stones from Blue Nile in my price range which are around a carat but the "Signature Ideal cut" I'd have to drop to .8 or less. Does anybody know how good/bad the "Ideal" cut is in comparison to something like the James Allen True Hearts or a triple Ideal AGS diamond from Whiteflash, both of which I can get over .9 carats for the same price?
3) Are there similar settings available elsewhere that I've missed?
Thanks for any help, this whole experience is quite overwhelming!
