I have a bit of a dilema on my hands
I bought an ekati auria''s diamond from Canada through BHPBilliton last July and had it set as my engagement ring in March.
I have been wearing it for 4 months
It has a canada mark certificate of authenticity and a canada mark serial number on it
The diamond is a round brilliant, 1.02 colour J clarity SI2
On monday I discovered a chip in the side of the diamond, it felt rough and dented in.
I took it to my local jeweller who looked at it and through that it was a flaw/imperfection that was filled by an enhancement treatment. I explained there is no way possible that this happened as I bought it through BHPB and it is certified. He is sending it off to a gemologist to get it valued now with the chip in it.
He believes it should not have been an SI2 more likely an I3.
My insurance company will replace it but I need to provide a valuation before and after
Problem is I have no "before" valuation only the Canadamark certificate of authenticity which does not have a graphic picture of the diamon and its imperfections nor a dollar value
I was also sent information on the diamond when I was choosing it which is a photocopy of a GIA Sarin document, but no report number - lists all the lengths etc....
Can someone please help me ???
Firstly, I am adamant it is not a flaw, it is a chip or nick. There is no way that BHP would have enabled it to be enhanced.
I need to prove what the value was before and after
Where can I get this certificate from (GIA) with a dollar value??
