Hello PSers!
I need some help on finding a wedding gift idea for a very wealthy family. I'm going to give a little side information to help with this a little bit, but if you just want to help me find a gift and not read anything I'm looking for something that is quality, nice, hopefully personalized, and budget friendly without being to cheap.
My SO worked for a company and became friends with his boss (the owner) and his family (wife and older daughter). The company was sold after the father passed away, and bought out by a large company and even though that happened, my SO is still friends with the wife (she is an amazing lady) and we have been invited to the wedding by her personally and we feel obligated to go. I have met her once, but haven't met her daughter but my SO has met her and they all have done things together, but the relationship with the daughter isn't the reason we chose to go, but because we love her mother so much. The whole family has a lot of money, the wedding is in a very expensive place, and if we tired to pay for our plates, well, I'm not sure we even could (her mother is paying for the wedding). I know that if we told her that we couldn't afford to come she would tell us we are being silly and would want us there anyways.
The bride and groom already have a child and a house and everything that they need. When I did see the mother of the bride I asked what a good gift idea would be, and she said they already have everything they want/need. There is going to be a large number of people at the wedding and a lot of expensive gifts that we can't even begin to compete with (nor would we try). I would like to get them something nice without going overboard and keeping the costs to as little as possible. I feel horrible for posting this, but like I said, we would have declined if we could have because we are just not in the place right now where that extra few hundred dollars makes a difference to us, where it wouldn't even help them at all, or get them anything that they would expect to get.
So my question is, what can I get them (wedding is on Friday and we are near Toronto) that is nice, fairly inexpensive, that doesn't come across as cheap that they might actually like? I thought about Waterford crystal vases and such, but when I considered it I realized they would probably get many of those, or probably something even more expensive like Tiffany crystal.
Thanks for reading all of this if you did! Thanks in advance!
