Thanks in advance... this forum and its dedicated users are great!!! I have read much background on the 4 Cs etc here but am still overwhelmed...
I need to find a stone this week. My budget is 3000-4500 for the stone. Looking for good value. Round, eye clean should be fine (SI1??), color I am thinking GH, Ideal cut, .95-1.2 carats???, ... Any suggestion of stone woudl be greatly appreciated... THANKS

Rushing a bit aren''t you... :P

Welcome to PS

I would caution rushing such things and for more reasons than just getting a good diamond friend.

What''s the rush?

Its quick as I have to relocate with my girlfriend in about 60 days and I want to get engaged on our 1 year dating anniversary (11/24) so we can be married around the 1st of the year... THANKS FOR THE HELP

The time frame is kinda short for an e-ring. In your case, you might want to select the setting from the same stone seller, because they will have it done faster for you

With this diamond yssie,

obstruction/ head shadow isn't normally an issue for this angle configuration, also the images prove this - its a lovely diamond.

You may be able to pull it off if her ring size is pretty standard and they have the setting you want in stock rather than having to make it for you.
Best wishes

Lorelei - you are, as always, correct

Yes, definitely call and ask if the diamond is eyeclean to your standards, it looks like a beautiful stone and well worth investigating. It also looks as if the diamond is slightly painted which isn't necessarily a bad thing at all as it can in some cases enhance desirable visual properties of the stone, just ask WF. It looks like a great diamond to me.

Its not eye clean

Oh blast.....well at least we know.

Yssie found several above, what are your priorities ess? As large as possible for the budget or a mix of size and quality?

5k for the stone and ring..... assuming 4500 for the stone... I want a good value but something with good fire that she will be proud to wear.... from what i have read that means the cut is of highest importance... eye clean... will be mounted in white gold (have heard this is more forgiving on color of stone). I would like something approaching a carat
This is a tough decision.... thanks for being so helpful

Do you think this other one is a nice stone?

http://www.whiteflash.com/hearts_arrows/Whiteflash-ACA-cut-diamond-1982387.htm#

Whiteflash seems to be able to mount and ship to me by Monday on any they have in stock
It looks great, I have a query though and it is quite possibly just an illusion, one of the hearts at around 4 o'clock looks slightly smaller than the others, I can see a green area on ASET which might correspond to it ( possibly a variance in cut finish to remove or improve an inclusion or suchlike) or it could be because I can see inclusions there which also show on the grading report, just check with them concerning this heart, the green area on the outer edge of the ASET image and whether it is eyeclean to your standards again.

If you''re in communication with WF anyway, instead of doing one-off queries about certain stones, why not get on the phone with them, tell them what you''re looking for, and having them do the hunt and peck for you?

Here is the anwser she gave.... a little worried they know I am in a hurry
[Chris] The hearts are all uniform in size, there is an inclusion in the heart image. This is because the hearts are located in the pavilion side of the diamond where the inclusions can be located. The Green in the ASET could be caused by the diamond not sitting straight in the holder while the photo was being taken. I can look into this, but I will not have a new image unitl Monday.

Ok, it just looks to me as if the green area could be an inclusion looking at the clarity plot or there could be another reason for it to do with the cut, I * think* I can see this area in the Idealscope image too at 9 o'clock, but its hard to tell. This doesn't change the fact that its still a very fine diamond.

They said it was eye clean and it is about 3/4 the price of the other stone but it seems like these two would almost look the same in size... is that faulty logic? .898 vs. .837... Also do you think these would both be nice in an ''X-Prong'' Trellis Solitaire Diamond Engagement Ring setting? THANKS

The second diamond is slightly bigger in the diameter but it is slight and both would give essentially the same look when mounted and worn on the hand.

The X prong is a beautiful setting, can''t go wrong with that.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!!!!!!

The best fast advice I heard when buying a diamond is, take few around your budget and compare them next to each other, choose the one that sparkles the most to your eye and you''ll be suprised what you might find, don''t pay attention too much to the colour or other stuff around, compare them all, and last important thing is remember size does matter. :)

You may also want to check out bluenile.com.

They make excellent quality jewelry, and you can get one of their signature diamond engagment rings by the next day (where you pick the diamond yourself, and put it in one of their settings).

They also have a very nice selection of pre-set engagement rings with very high quality diamonds that you can order and receive the next day.

For some reason I''m having trouble attaching a link - just go to their "engagement" page ...
