Looking for an emerald around 2 cts, well cut, G/H color and VS1/VS2. Budget is around 12.5k and under. Here are some initial options.

From Whiteflash (this is probably the one I''m most excited about). Bob is bringing the diamond in for pictures, etc., which I should be able to post tomorrow.
Emerald 1.85 G VS2 M-STK N EX GD GIA N 62.1% 64% 8.80x6.12x3.80 $11,514ps
Ratio 1.44:1
I believe this is the GIA Certificiate: http://www.barskydiamonds.net/content/files/cert_images/ld0615497654.jpg. Should I be concerned about the inclusions? I know that it''s VS2, but I''ve read that large emeralds with VS2 clarity aren''t always eyeclean? I guess I''ll see tomorrow once Bob has the diamond in hand.

Two from James Allen:

And here''s an idealscope image of the second diamond from James Allen:

Can you post the actual photographs please of the diamonds and the crown heights if you have that measurement please?

Hey Lorelei. Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately, I don't have the crown heights, but the actual pics can be found here:
1) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1128349.asp
2) http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VVS2-Premium-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1235938.asp

Still waiting for pictures, etc. on the diamond from Whiteflash, but hopefully will have those today.

Edit: Accidentally linked to the wrong diamond for #1. Should be http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1201389.asp

I would prefer stone #1. #2 looks a bit too glassy for me, no contrast.

Thanks Stone-cold for linking it. I was just trying to edit the post to do exactly that, but wasn't having much luck. Glad to see you're a bit more savvy ;) Definitely appreciate the opinion as well.

Thank you for the links SC!

Ok, definitely the first one looks best. You could ask JA if they could run a Sarin scan on this one to get the crown height which would be useful to know.

Post the pics on the WF diamond when you get them Nola then we can go from there.

I got the images and details on the stone called in by Whiteflash. Is this the one? How concerned should I be that the facets don't look to be parallel? Will that be visible once the stone is in a setting? Again, here are the stats:

The 3rd JA stone look good, best of the 3 I think from JA.

The WF stone is a little wonky in the steps. That would bother me.

Unfortunately, the third JA stone is no longer available. Oddly enough, yesterday it said it wasn''t available, it was listed for sale again earlier today, and is now again back to "no longer available."

You requested for the IS right? JA will put a stone on hold for you if you requested the IS for it.

First of all, thank you so much Stonecold for your responses/opinions.

Actually, I requested the IS a few weeks ago. I requested Sarin and ASET scans today--but also requested one on the first JA diamond above, and that one is still listed as available on their website? I guess when I get a response back from JA about the scans, we''ll know for sure.

Ok, good luck then.

Any other opinions on the Whiteflash diamond? Should the steps knock it out of the running?

I am not loving the WF diamond to be honest. It is returning light well from the centre but the faceting to me is offputting, this is a large diamond and could be visible in person.

I figured out what happened to the third JA stone--Mark at Engagement Rings DIrect is holding it for me! He's about to run a Sarin scan, but when I asked him about an ASET image he said they're not functional for emerald shapes?

One thing I am concerned about with this diamond is an inclusion right in the center that seems like it might be eye-visible from the picture at James Allen. Take a look: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Emerald-Diamond-1128349.asp

No way to tell from the loupe image. Just ask Mark if it is eye-clean.

Will do. Thanks.

Actually, Mark is now holding for me both of the diamonds from JA that I was interested in. Here are the Sarin scan numbers:

Emerald 1.88 G VS2
5.82x8.47 L/W 1.45 VG
depth 3.90 67% EX
crown 40.2 8.8% EX
pavil 45.3 53.2% EX
table 4.05 mm 69.6% EX
cutlet 0.2% off 0.2% EX
girdle 4.9% (4.8-5.0)% G

Emerald 2.01 H VS2
6.16x8.39 L/W 1.36
depth 4.19 68% VG
crown 46.2 13.5% EX
pavil 40.6 52.2% EX
table 3.71 60.3% VG
cutlet 0.1% off 0.4% EX
girdle 2.3% (2.0-2.6)% EX

Also, the JA prices--especially with the PS discount--was considerably lower than what Mark is asking for. Is it fair for me to mention that to him and see if he would drop the price? Does Engagement Rings Direct offer a PS discount?

Also, to save everyone from having to scan up, here''s the Idealscope for the 1.89 ct:

1201389i.jpeg.jpg

And for the 2.02:

1128349.jpeg.jpg

Looks like the 2.02 is better.

Not sure if ERD have PS discount but maybe he can price match?

Here are the two diamonds side-by-side. 2.02 ct on the left and 1.89 ct on the right.
