I'm in the process of looking a for a diamond from bluenile. Can anyone assist me in finding a diamond from their site? You guys probably know better sites than BN, but I found a setting I like from them which made me lean towards them.

Preferences: budget 6k, round, excellent to ideal cut, atleast 1 carat, vs2, color f-h

I don't know too much about diamonds and from what I have seen BN only provides the GIA report. Will that be enough to assess the quality of a diamond? If you have any other recommendations from other sites feel free to post

Well, If you can post a picture or link to the setting you like we might be able to give you other options at other sites which might help open up your options.

It's pretty much a thin band with diamonds

Well.... Are you still looking for an Oval?? Or have you switched to round either way have you looked at http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/

That link should take you to the style of rings you are looking for. This site offers a more real life look at the rings rather than the stock photos from bluenile. once you pick the setting you like then look for a stone. I like how you can see real stones, again not just looking at a report or a stock photo.

Another site would be www.whiteflash.com or www.briangavin.com

hope this helps

I was going to say I love an Oval I think it is more unique. Did you have a size or budget you were looking to hit?? Just trying to help

Originally I wanted oval but I see that their is only very good cut at best

Take a moment and pop over to James Allen and look at there ovals. Put in you desired size and color preference I would open it up just a bit from the 1 carat (meaning just under and just a bit over) and look at what they have you might be surprised once you can see the stones if not they have a lot or rounds to look at too

I like the setting, but we Gia doesn't say what the cut is? And will this diamond shine well enough?

Well I am not an expert on Ovals, I do like that it doesn't have a bad bowtie or dark spots when i do the 360 view, It won't be rated the same as a round on the cut type because it is a fancy shape. Though it does have excellent polish and very good on symmetry. When I compare it to other stone this one defiantly out performs and shines to my eyes. :naughty: You can call and ask an expert at James Allen what they think

Maybe an expert on Ovals will Chime in on this thread.

Thank you so much. If not for an oval can you recommend a round diamond?

I honestly am not great with rounds, though there are lots of tools to help you narrow it down.

Though I will say that you are likely going to have to go lower in color closer to H if you want to hit the 1 carat especially a VS stone.

Good luck

Thank you, might go with the oval lol

No. Symmetry and Polish do not determine whether the stone is sparkly or not. They have some bearing on the cut quality but generally do not have much of an effect. Table and depth % also tell nothing about the performance of an oval diamond. You will need an actual picture of the diamond, a video and/or ASET image. Good Old Gold and James Allen are good places to look that will prove pictures, video and ASET.
