Hello everybody. I think I have narrowed down my e-ring setting selection to a Leon Mege classic solitaire (I already have a diamond).

I am trying to keep the ring a surprise and have obtained my girlfriend''s class ring.

I know the ring is a little loose (almost slips off the knuckle when she wiggles her hand) so I''m going to have to guess the size based on the ring.

I know Leon does not offer free resizing. Also, my girlfriend is entering pharmacy school and will likely be too busy to go down to NYC to have the ring size examined in person after I have given it to her.

My fear is that I may be sending it back and forth to Leon after I give it to her and that the costs could really add up.

Any suggestions??

You can buy a set of plastic ring sizing set on Etsy for a few dollars. Slip them on her finger while she sleeps maybe? Or compare the rings to a ring that fits well?

Thanks. That''s a good idea but she is pretty light sleeper....it''s a little risky.

Does anyone have any experience with doing resizings via mail? Does it usually take a few tries to get it right since the jeweler can''t examine the ring on the finger?

Do your best on the size, then after you give it to her (if it's not right) have her go to the closest jewelery store and have her finger sized. With that info Leon can easily size it just once and you won't have to send it back and forth.

And remember that skinny shanks will fit looser than wide shanks or multiple rings stacked (like e-ring and wedding band) in the same ring size. So if her class ring is wide, you'll need to adjust down even more to get close to her right size. If it's dainty, then maybe 1/2 size down will do the trick (just guessing)?

it''s always best to have the ring made in the correct size to begin with. But, if you do need it sized Leon seems to be one who''s sizing is right in line with most jewelers so she can go to a local store or Tiffany to get the correct size. then you''d ship it once to Leon to size it and it should fit just right.

Thanks everyone. I definitely feel better about it now.

The class ring is a 2mm wide shank so I guess its on the dainty side

I think Leon''s classic solitaire is in that ballpark too, if I''m not mistaken (1.8mm? 2mm?) so I would adjust down the size using the current ring for a starting size and adjusting down based on how loose it is (perhaps a local jeweler can help advise you).
