I doubt it matters, resizing a solitaire isn''t major surgery. You can call around and see if it''s cheaper at one vendor over another to re-size and set (the fees for this vary, but not widely). Personally, I''d probably have the stone sent to Pearlman''s and have them resize the setting and set the stone. I don''t know if GOG (probably) or WF (probably not) are D Vatche authorized dealers in case your setting comes with some sort of warranty.

I would contact ID Jewelery. They are Pricescope vendors and can get you a nice stone and have incredibly beautiful settings at great prices. Very nice to work with also....and if you can get to NYC, right in the Diamond District. A wholeheartedly agree with everyone....Maximize the diamond and go with a less expensive setting. Down the road you can reset the stone if need be....

Another question, Should I get the ring resize by Pearlman or get it done from the place that I'll get the stone from?

I'm looking at all the stones that everyone suggested. They all looked really nice but I would like see if I can get something in a range of F-G VS1-Vs2. Is that possible? I rather go for quality VS size.

Thank you.
If quality to you means higher clarity/color, that's fine, and yes it will have to be smaller. To me, quality means cut, and a well cut stone, if totally eyeclean (which many are), will look the same as a well cut VS stone.

If one is color sensitive, they might see something in an I, maybe an H, though again, well cut stones face up whiter, the cut can mask some warmth. If one is not color sensitive, especially at this size, they won't see anything but sparkle! But let's see what's out there.

Ok, this is what I came up with, unless you want to go all the way down to the half carat range. Infinity has some in your range, but they don't list price, and I can't figure out how to link just one stone. The results were limited because of the color and clarity, coupled with the fact that there aren't a lot of stones in the .70-.90 category.

If you are concerned about where to set the diamond and who to size the setting, then I would get your diamond from Pearlman''s. You can tell them what you want and then they can tell you what they have in inventory. I know Bill only puts the larger carat diamonds on his website, but he does have smaller carat sizes in his store. Then Pearlman''s can set the diamond and size it for you. I don''t know if he provides pictures on stones they way WF and GOG does though.

How about these options from Blue Nile? (disclaimer- I haven''t run these through the HCA yet!):

http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-or-less-ideal-cut-e-color-vvs2-clarity_LD01261197?__fun_frm=i&filter_id=0 (a bit smaller at .75 but it''s an E VVS)

Hope this helps!

I looked through their inventory, and in this range, I found four, with only good polish and symmetry. The only ones I saw that would be well cut were 8 Star, which carries a big premium.

I didn''t look at BN, as I like more info. on stones. BN won''t give you anything else, so just a heads up if you see one that interests you sir.

I''m pretty sure Bill told me that they have many more in his store that aren''t on his website, but I could remembering wrong...? It wouldn''t be the first time!

Ah! If that is indeed the case, then maybe he''s got something better. Never hurts to ask!

And thanks for mentioning that Feb!

This might be a silly question but how do I know if the stone is eyeclean if I don''t see it in person.
Do I need to get the stone send to my appraiser first before buying it?
What do most people do?

All you have to do is tell the vendor what you want. i.e. I don''t want to see any inclusions, from any angle, at any distance. They will be totally honest with you (assuming you go with a reputable vendor), and tell you if it is or not. They aren''t going to send a stone out that isn''t what you want, because they know it will come right back to them. And this is what most people do.

Thanks Ellen.
I will give them a call to see if the stone is eyeclean or not.

You''re welcome!

Sirrtuan, I am glad you decided to get that setting from Pearlmans and invest your budget in your diamond, good choice.

With regards to eyeclean, if you are still looking at working with GOG or WF, as Ellen mentioned they are very honest when it comes to evaluating clarity. Just make sure you are all on the same page, as eyeclean can be subjective.

If you can''t see the stones in person, next best thing is letting someone like Jon @ GOG be your "eyes". He knows alot more about diamonds than you or I likely ever will! Tell him what you''re after, and he will find suitable candidates. Then you can narrow down and evaluate individual stones.

Another plus is GOG will film a diamond video for you to help you decide - this will assist you with your choices of colour and clarity. Once you have narrowed down your selection, just request a vid if still undecided.

With regards to sizing the ring, GOG is a Vatche authorized dealer, so that won''t be an issue. They will charge a setting fee as mentioned for using a mount that isn''t theirs, but it will be minimal (>$100).
As to who is the "best" to size it, probably a good question to ask the vendors. I would lean toward having everything done at the one place, so GOG.
But it will not be a problem for either of these vendors. Just make sure you know your girls'' size 100% right before changing it!

good luck, pls keep us up to date.

I contacted pearlman, they told me that the setting is currently accommodates a 6.50mm or 1ct round center stone.
They said that it will probably could accept the smaller stone but it would require a new head, or it just might sit a little higher.

Should I get the setting now or should I get it after I pick out the stone?

Thanks.

At the deal you are getting, I would not let that setting sit for one more second!

I think you might as well get the setting now since it might be gone in the near future and it''s what you are looking for...and a steal. Finding a 1 carat stone shouldn''t be a hard task since they are a very popular size stone and your budget can now afford a 1 carat stone!

Here is another one.

It looks like a beautiful stone!

Stunning!!!! I have a 0.8ct ACA and I just love it, it''s the perfect size for my 5.25 ring finger.

She is going to love it!!!

I see that one is brand new, lucky you to have found it! It''s gorgeous sir. Great size, and the color and clarity leave nothing to worry about. It will be stunning, congrats!

"Diamond is not in house" what does it mean?
Do I need to see the sarin report or the info on the page is good enough?

As it is an ACA it should be an in house diamond, it is possible if it is new, that all the info hasn''t been uploaded yet.

Right, but call WhiteFlash to make sure. If its an ACA, it should be in house and like Ellen said, it''s a new stone so all the info. probably isn''t loaded up yet on the website. What setting did you go with?

I decided to go with Vatche RC in platinum :)
I was going to get the one from pearlman but that one is for 1carat center stone.
