Hi everyone,

Here is the AGS 0 ideal diamond I decided to go with. Attached are the images and specs - is this a good buy? We haven't set it yet but the second we received these images, I came online to seek your opinions as I'm no expert at all..

This isn't a hearts and arrows diamond, it's an unbranded diamond from online but look at the hearts imagery!! Isn't it beautiful? The arrows not so much though, drats! Based on these images, did I get a good diamond?

$33,800
AGS 0 ideal
Polish 0
Symmetry 0
2.913 carats
I
VS2
No fluorescende (I'm not against fluorescence and my initial diamond was going to have medium but that one turned out not to be eyeclean from the sides so I ended up choosing this one after)

PS, this doesnt score well on the HCA which made me really nervous at first but I think the idealscope looks good right?

Bump! Can anyone let me know if my diamond is any good? Please and thank you :)

Well, I could safely say that all AGS Ideal cut diamonds qualify as good! But your stone looks GREAT! You are mistaken about the arrows, both hearts and arrows look very nice and the ASET is great, too! 2.9 carats is a deal, too, since it is just under three carats! So I think you picked an excellent stone! :appl:

(What are the measurements? I cannot believe it doesn't score well on the HCA.)

Omg thank you so much diamondseeker2006 for replying and finally putting my fears at ease!! I was so anxious constantly refreshing to see a reply. Thank you soooo much!

I took a chance on the diamond even with the poor HCA score only because it came with the AGS platinum DQD report! If it didn't I would've passed but the report showed a really nice idealscope image of the diamond so I took the risk  and I'm do glad it paid off! Thank you thank you thank you diamondseeker2006 for putting my fears at ease, you have no idea what this means to me you angel!

It doesn't score well on the HCA because the crown is too steep for the pav angle, but here are the measurements:

Table: 58.5%
Crown: 35.9 degrees
Pavilion: 40.9 degrees
Depth: 62.2%
Cutlet: none

It's got steep deep flags in the numbers. But the IS is strong, though not perfect, and at the weight and the balance of color/clarity I think it's a fantastic stone. It's always about balance.

Thanks Gypsy, I agree that it's steep and somewhat deep but the IS, carat size and price above all is what sold us on it. For almost three carats, is this a good price? Cut and size were the most important so I hope I made a good choice......

Re: HELP! My AGS 0 Ideal diamond: any opinions? Is it any go

I see that exact stone listed on Solomon Brothers for 33,700. They do not provide ASETs or Idealscopes. So you paid 100 more for that and I think that's great. They are usually one of our lowest price vendors.

Same stone is listed on WF for 33,889.
Listed on Eternity Diamond for 33,902.

So yes, I looks like you got a the right price and from a vendor that provided all the right information to help you make an educated choice.

That stone if it was three full carats would also apparently be worth around 44,000. So.. I think you did fan-freaking-tastic.

Ah drats! We went with Whiteflash but their customer service was AMAZINGGGGG although I wish I went and knew about Soloman Brothers (because I'm an accountant and do love the best deal!). Thanks Gypsy, for all your wonderful comments and for putting my mind at ease. We are so thankful for your helpful input

Re: HELP! My AGS 0 Ideal diamond: any opinions? Is it any go

Yes. But Solomon Brothers offers you nothing in the way of idealscopes or ASETs.

And that takes time and money. So $100 for that plus the WF Customer service is an excellent deal.

The best deal is not about price. As an accountant you must know that. It's about VALUE. And what you got is a lot of value picking WF over SB.

Re: HELP! My AGS 0 Ideal diamond: any opinions? Is it any go

This is why I always recommend idealscope images for every stone regardless of what the HCA screening numbers say! I have seen a FEW AGS 0 stones with leakage (on IS images) that I would not want. I figure if I am spending many thousands of dollars, I want the proof of what I am buying. These images are essential in my book and I don't recommend vendors who don't supply them. Just saw that you bought through WF. Excellent choice!
