My daughter just accidentally broke one of my favorite vases, and my being so upset over the vase grabbed the monkey glue to try and fix it. I did not even think to take my rings off and the next thing you know my diamond eternity platinum leon band and halo diamond leon ring have glue on them. I tryed to soak in warm water and scrub with a tooth brush but they do not feel right - it feelsl like a dull film on them. I tryed olive oil and then soaking them again in warm water and that is where they are now - they are a little better but not 100%.

Do you think maybe a professional jewelers cleaning would fix the problem?? This just happened within the hour.

I would probably take them to a reputable jeweler for professional cleaning. I don''t know how difficult the glue might be to remove, but the high pressure steam they use would probably do the trick!

Thanks for the reply. I will take them to a professional in hopes that they can be restored back to the way they were.

Try soaking them in acetone or nail polish remover.

Note: metal and diamonds only. If you’ve got pearls, emeralds or a variety of other things you should definitely not do this.

Lacquer thinner, or 50/50 denatured alcohol & lacquer thinner is another aggressive solvent to try. But not on any porous stones or plastics.

Edit: Gorilla Glue? It's polyurethane and acetone or lacquer thinner should get it.
