Okay, we''re getting the 2.39 J SI1 that was discussed about a month ago (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/2-39-j-si1-first-post-please-help.79376/)!!!!!! I can''t tell you how excited I am!!!!

But how should we set it? I love the shared prong legato from WF (which is where the stone is from)...but we also love solitaires. Whatever we choose, it needs to sit flush with a shared prong wedding band later on. And I''m going to be a dentist soon so it can''t be set super high or anything.

ANY SUGGESTIONS???? We''re trying to keep the cost to a minimum because the 2.39 was quite a large purchase.

HELP???

I love the legato micropave and shared prong settings.

For solitaires, here are a few I love:

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Sleek-Lines--Solitaire_688.htm

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Legato--Sleek-Line_1118.htm

http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-W-Prong--Solitaire-by-WF_741.htm# (can''t tell if this allows for flush fit though)

I also really like the sleek lines of this solitaire, but you''d have to get a quote to get on in the size of stone you have: http://www.knoxjewelers.biz/index.htm?crn=261&rn=1146&action=show_detail

If you aren''t set on a shared prong wedding band, I also looooooove the WF harmony set a la Lynn b''s rings. They are so stunning!!

Yay!! Great stone ya got there.

I'm far from a setting expert, but I can at least get this started.

So, we know you need a lower setting. Talking solitaires, wide or narrow band? Antique, modern, classic? Engraving, no engraving? The more you narrow it down, the better it may help you and others at deciding.

And, have you taken a stroll through the ring thread lately? That's always helpful I think.

And congrats!

Congratulations on a whopping big stone!!! And an excellent price too!! I am just upgrading now to 1.77 - and its nice to know that I can get your size later on without breaking the bank!!!

Mine is going in my sleek line legato setting - its going to look huge!!

Wowzers, that is a beauty; I second the Legato and I also love LynnB''s ring pave fishtail from WF. Congrats on a lovely stone; can''t wait to see it set!

Okay, definately solitaire setting with a narrow band (2-2.5mm). I want a classic look but I love the blingy look of lynnb''s sets (shared prong and fishtail pave). I don''t think I''m looking for engraving or anything. I love the look of 6 prongs, but I don''t think that will work with the eternity wedding band I want. Basically, I''m looking for a relatively inexpensive setting that will make the center stone look awesome!!!

Do you think a shared prong setting would be too much or too flashy? I''ve always thought that 3-pointers were understated...but maybe I''m nuts...???

Wow, that Knox setting is gorgeous!!!! I''ll have to look into that. And the price isn''t bad at all! Thanks!

Maisie- I can''t wait to see yours! It''s gonna be beautiful!!!! You have to post pictures!!! By the way...can your setting sit flush with a shared prong because I love that setting.

Skippy123- I''m definately with you on the legato and Miss Lynn''s awesome new setting!

Considering the profession you''re about to embark in, and the circles (at least some) you will most likely find youself, no, I don''t think that would be too flashy. And I personally think 3 pointers are understated.

And yes, I think you''ll need 4 prongs to have the WB sit flush.

On a last note, that stone would truly look awesome on a gum wrapper band.

Isabel,
I just saw this thread, and your other posts asking about my old shared prong setting. I probably have a few old pictures floating around somewhere in my photo *archives*

; if you are still interested, I can look for them and post them for you. Just let me know!
Lynn

All those options are great!!

But if you decide to go with a plain solitare, I''d do the one that diamondseeker just got. The Leon Mege. There''s just something timeless about it.

HELP???
Congratulations on your engagement, diamond and career choice! Sounds like you''re planning to wear your ring at work -- I just wanted to warn you that I had major prong problems with my original 1ct. pear from wearing gloves. Not sure if it was because of the point of the diamond, the quality of the prongs or the pressure from the gloves, but I thought I''d mention it anyway. I know you mentioned 4 prongs, but I''d feel safer with six, given my experience.

Good luck and I can hardly wait to see pictures!

Well, I''m not completely sure about whether the ring will interfere with the gloves...it''s something I''ve definately worried about. I''ve asked a few fellow dentists and they didn''t seem to have any problems. But your input definately makes me think about keeping the setting lower. I used to want a really high set diamond....but if I want to wear it everyday I need to be a little more practical. Thanks for telling me!

Lynnb- Thanks for telling me about the pictures that are floating around....but I have a confession. I look at your ring on a daily basis!!!! So I guess the pictures are kind of floating in my head too!!! hehe...I love the old and the new setting. Hopefully I''ll get something similar!!!
