Help me with a HS graduation present for the very well to do

A friend''s daughter just graduated from high school in Los Angeles. They are a lovely family and we''ve know them for years but they do everything in a way that I can only describe as California, more $ than God, over the top. We were invited to the party and the invitation would have made most brides green with envy-thick, luscious hand made paper, engraved and announced with a custom designed, engraved monogram. And for a high school graduation party!

Anyway, we were unable to make the party but I would like to send a gift. Any ideas? I''m thinking that there is no way to impress her with a present (I bought my nieces little luxury items as a splurge for them) so I''m considering something really personal and thoughtful. I haven''t seen her in a few years and all I know about her interests is that she is a serious rider of Arabians and competes all over the country. I was trying to come up with something to do with the beautiful monogram from the invitation but am drawing a blank.

Any creative gift givers out there? I could really use some help!

How about a Lei? A beautiful floral lei looks great in pictures, doesn''t cost a whole lot and can be dried to keep as a graduation keepsake.

If you can have a really nice leather photo album done up for her, with the Monogram on the front, and start it with a couple photos of her with her horses... then leave room for her to fill the rest in it would be a nice keep sake.

Is she going away to college? Maybe you could get her a basket with her college's sweatshirt, and sticker for her car and a gift card to a coffee place or restaurant near campus?

ETA: or how about a really nice coffee table book on horses or framed horse print?

I love the college gift basket idea! I''ve given those before and the graduates have always loved them!

If she''s going to be living in a dorm I''d:
- Put everything in a cute shower basket for her to carry her shampoo and stuff to and from her room to the loo
- Gift cards to local cofee shops, sandwich shops, etc.
- A cute day planner
- Rolls of quarters for laundry
- Easy Mac and other good dorm snacks
- A white board with her name on it for her dorm room (or a cork board)
- A college sweatshirt or t-shirt
- Ear plugs
