I''m am looking to propose this summer. My girlfriend works in jewelry, has a keen eye and passion for gems, and I would really like to get her a diamond that knocks her off her feet. She likes round brilliant diamonds of approximately 1 carat. Anything above 1.25 carats looks too big on her finger in her opinion. I was thinking..... .9 to 1.25 carat weight, Ideal cut, D-F color, VS1-SI1 (she is ok with SI1 if it is pretty eye clean face up). Cut is by far the most important factor to her, followed by color. I have a $10,000 budget to work with. I do like the H&A diamonds, I think they add a nice touch. So please help me out! Fire away with your suggestions!

Eightstar is great but will blow his budget out of the water for a 1 ct E VS2

He said he could go down in clarity if it is eye clean. I think he could find one in the range he''s looking in that he could fit into his budget.

I love love love that last setting - and I agree, get her a really special setting! What styles does she like?

Great find, Wren!!

IMHO, I think your situation is a bit unique compared to most of us guys buying their fiancee an engagement ring. Your girlfriend works in a jewelry store. Her coworkers and others will probably have her diamond scruitinized alot more than the diamonds we buy our girlfriends. I may be paranoid, but I believe I would err on the conservative side with regards to clarity.
10 grand will get you an awesome diamond and setting.

Wow, thanks for all the great advice. Wren....I especially like your pick and I''m strongly considering that stone!

That''s an awesome stone. Good find wren!!!

That one would get my vote as well.

I have to admit that I bear a slight resemblance to your gf. I''ve worked in several different levels of jewelry stores during my life and I still have acquaintances in the industry. So you know my ring is going to scrutinized too. And that combination is a ring I''d be proud to show off!
