I am going to propose to my girl. We''ve been going out for over 6 years now and we''ve known that we were going to get married for some time now. Recently my grandfather became very ill and I had hoped to throw a quick wedding together once he was able to attend. Sadly on monday he left us...

My girl and I went shopping on Saturday with her mother and found a ring. I am going to ask her father for his blessing on father''s day... I should have the ring in about 2 weeks and am hoping to propose on the 4th of July. I am now feeling like I have been procrastinating for some time now and wish to get married within a year from then.

The problem is... I have no clue how to do it!

Here are the details:
Locations: -I live in Covina, CA...
-Close to Los Angeles... Orange County.
-Sister live''s in Frisco and we can also
go up to visit.

There are the three places that I wanted to think of doing it... Give me your ideas please...

Robbo, can't say I know your girlfriend at all, but how about a nice dessert place in LA?

a quick search in Citysearch LA showed a few promising ones:

Also, here are Citysearches, romantic places to dine:

These are the best places to kiss, according to Citysearch:

and for more romantic lists of LA, here is another site:

You can always take her to the beach and do it at sunset, or have someone set up a candle light dinner on a pier...Use your imagination, or perhaps in a garden or botanical area near you, or in SF? If you know the things she likes and doesn't like, you'll choose wisely, I bet!

Me, I love the beach and the water, so my fiance would likely aask me near water, overlooking it, in it, or around it... He knows that.

Be creative, be personal, and find things you two share...GOOD LUCK!

Doing it halfway through a fireworks display would be pretty awesome. You'd certainly have something to celebrate during the fireworks finale.

Is there anywhere that's special to the two of you? A park, a beach, a restaurant? If not, choose a place that you can make special, a place where you might even consider getting married. What are her interests? Would she prefer a proposal that's more private? If you go to theknot.com, there are several places listed for weddings, but they would also be great places for a proposal. I think one of the BEST ideas would be to find a place where you have the ocean and the fireworks. My ideal 4th of July proposal would include a small, private picnic on the cliffs overlooking the ocean at sunset, followed by gorgeous fireworks. The only problem may be finding private space. One thing a friend of mine did when he proposed was rent a cute little house on the beach in Malibu. If you go to http://62elgoog.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/california you can find properties to rent. Just a thought!

WOW! Agreed with Researcher! I was proposed to at a little wedding Chapel in St.Thomas, and he swore that one day he would like to marry me in such a place as that one. Well, looks like we may just get married in that SAME little wedding Gazeebo overlooking the ocean.

It's very meaningful to propose marraige in the place you could possibly get married. A coworker had the same experience, where her fiance picked her up and drove her out to a beautiful (and their favorite) spot in the woods of a Upstate New York park, while the foliage and greenery was just at it's peak Autum colors.

He got a picnic together and at their arrival to the spot (also a wedding gazeebo) dropped to his knee and said that in one year to the day he would marry her right there... She said "OH MY GOD YES!" I think it was just so thoughtful and sweet...

Good luck and hopefully all will go well, and you find that perfect spot to do it, but remember it's the people that make it memorable, and the sincereity and joy of the situation! Let us know how it goes!!!
