Hello Pricescopers!

I was wondering if I could pick your brilliant brains for a little pricing advice. I am planning to reset my diamond and am leaning towards selling my Leon Mege 5 stone setting. However, I have no sense of what this setting should be sold for or even where I might consider selling it. Any and all thoughts appreciated! Ring details below!

I love! What carat, color and clarity are side-stones? And what condition is it in—how old is it? Are any of the stones chipped? Prongs will have to be retipped? I would consider all of that before I priced it bc you’ve had it for almost 10 years. I guess the bottom line is what do you think is a fair price after all of that is considered. Also, what shapes does it take and what sizes?

Excellent questions! Attaching the appraisal info for the side stones. But all four are g-h-I, VS1 or better, .35 tw for one pair and .25 tw for the other pair. No chips on any of the stones and I actually can’t see (with naked eye, of course) any wear on top of setting or around stones at all. No softening of the miligrain, no brushing of the platinum except on the band. The bottom of the band has some light scratches/wear. I assume it would have to take another stone of similar proportions (8.6 x 7.9 is what it houses currently)?
Really just trying to get a sense of what a fair price would be?

Maybe list for your top price and be willing to take offers if it doesn’t sell. Since it’s 10 years old and fits very specific sizes, I would say 40 to 50 percent of original price paid.

@LittleSparkle, I have an 8.8 x 8.1 AVC that might fit ... and I would be quite interested. =)2 (That said, I don't know what an appropriate price would be, and it may well be out of my comfort zone. But it's worth a try.)

Beautiful setting...Good luck!

I would love to chat with you further! Is there a way to message directly?

I'd love to -- but there isn't a way on PS to message directly. Are you on DiamondBistro? I've signed up for an account but haven't yet received a verification email.

Just curious, why are you selling? This is the exact setting I was thinking of having my solitaire cushion made into.

Something you have to consider is that the value so to speak is higher with your stone in it because it was made specifically to your stone’s exact proportions. Once someone else puts their stone in it, it merely becomes a semi-mount, essentially - it is no longer custom. I don’t know if you have given consideration to that. Also with regard to it having an added value because it is LM, that has unfortunately waned. Back in the day when I joined PS (2003), LM was the hottest, most desired ring maker, something the majority of us only dreamed of. His reputation has been adversely affected by the difficulties people have encountered with him (which explains why he’s persona non grata here for many years now). Additionally, he has been vocal in his disdain for @Garry H (Cut Nut) the developer of the HCA. Subsequently, there have emerged many other talented craftspeople who can make pieces on par with his work who are highly touted here on PS. I know this all sucks, so sadly the allure of a LM isn’t what it was. Regardless, it is an amazing piece in and of itself and I would imagine you will find a buyer but most likely at a loss in comparison to what you paid. May I ask why you are resetting from such a special, heirloom worthy piece? And would you consider keeping and setting with a colored stone?
