Hi All........I''ve lurking a bit and would love to solicite some advice on a setting right now(and eventually a nice RB diamond!). My gf has fallen in love with the Pave design and really loves the Halo settings of which I have seen some very beautiful members rings posted on this very forum. I initally was going to go with a classic very simple Halo such as the first picture...... that was until I saw this setting from www.faycullen.com and it just blew me away! I think she would really love the uniqueness of this setting.......but before I do this I just wanted to have you chime in with your impreccable taste.

Basically being a man......im asking all of you if this tie matches the shirt if you know what I mean! (sometimes I swear they look good.....but the look on her face tells me NO!) Also, does anyone see any potential problems with this design? It almost seems to carry the illusion that there are two wedding bands attached......fire away!

I prefer the top on #1 but I *love* the sides on #2 so I''d probably choose #2 LOL

I like the first one better, but there is a LOT going on with that ring. Halo that I think is a smidge too thick, baguettes and rounds, milgraining and engraving.

I''m having a hard time choosing. Does your girlfriend like baguettes? Does she like art deco period styling?

The looks are quite different to me because the top one with baguettes on the sides is pretty but I''m not the hugest fan of baggs. I do like the art deco styling of the second but it is a wide ring (see fay cullen hand pic below). These are design elements that are more important that SHE like than whether we like them. See why I''m having a hard time deciding?!?!?!

Hi, RV...

Hmmm...the top one is way too busy to my taste. I love the band, but would prefer it with the diamond mounted as a solitaire. It just seems too much with the halo. Just my opinion, of course...

I like the second one, especially after having seen the hand shot...

Is your girl planning to wear a wedding band with her Ering? This might be something to consider. I''m not sure either would work well with a wedding band...

Thanks for the replies everyone..... I honestly don''t know if she would wear a band or not...... But thanks for the top shot Firegoddess.......it really is a very unique ring isnt it? I put it up on my computers wallpaper....and she said it looked great....and asked how much.....and I did my Academy award...."too much baby" Maybe a few more big bonus checks though!.....

Do the "pave" stones seem larger in this setting than most? I like the look of individual stones vs. some where its hard for me to tell if its engraving work or diamonds clustered on the ring.... is this still considered Pave?

I think I'd go with one with a thinner band than either of those. And I'm not sure of teh quality of Fay Cullen settings for an engagement ring. I like this one, for example (but you have to buy your diamond there, too). It's from Dimend Scaasi and can be made for a round diamond.

I like the second setting better

RV,

I don't really have an opinion on the rings (sorry!) but I just had to chime in and say that you sound like a four-star sweetheart and congratulations on your upcoming engagement!!!

After seeing th handshot I like the second one. The first one is just way too... well. Busy.

Personally I''d pick one of the Beverly K halo settings on pages 5 and 6 of this thread. Or one of the new Vatche halos. I don''t know if I would be happy with a setting made by fay cullen-- especially one with all that pave. I''d be worried abou the quality of their setting compared to Vatche or Beverly K... but that''s me. http://www.dvatche.com/eclipse/new_catalouge.htm has new halo designs.

Oh, yes! Vatche has some new halo settings for rounds and they would be very fine quality! As a matter of fact, I am going to look at Vatche settings in person today!

From your pics I liked the second one. After the hand shot, I LOVE it. Beautiful.

Aww......thanks Lynn! I am! Oops i mean....i have great cut and clarity.....but i have a few noticable inclusions as well! (which she embraces....err.....accepts)

Anyway, I honestly hadn''t thought of durability of the setting.....obviously she would be wearing it daily for the most part, how does one determine quality? Is fay cullen known for more occasional jewelry?

I did find another Natalie K design which i will post as well as an intresting setting for $560! which would allow me to crank up the cut/size on da rock!

I LIKE that Natalie one! And it comes with a matching band. Price is fabulous too! That''s my pick.

Out of the first 2 that you posted, I really like the second one (especially after seeing the hand shot!). That Natalie K design is GORGEOUS, and a great price for the setting and a matching band!

I don''t think the natalie K is $560. the setting from chicago diamond is $560. i''ve never heard of them but that price seems way low for all the pave and detail in the setting.

Rocky, I like the Natalie K setting the best out of what you''ve posted thus far.

That''s an awful lot of melee for someone who is quite active and wants to wear the ring all the time. It''s a serious consideration. Pave rings with lots of melee are more of a liability if you are an active person. The 3 sided pave screams trouble to me, in this instance.

very good point FG.. i missed that in the earlier post. I agree completely that 3 sided pave rings are not for the active wearer. As much as I adore the look they aren't very practical for those who are hard on their rings.

ETA: you might check out Ritani rings. they make some gorgeous settings too and are very afordable for a designer piece. they make one similar to the natalie k with the pave on only the tops of the rings..

I do love the Ritani settings, as MrsS said!!! They seem to be a good balance of delicate looking yet sturdy. If your gf is not going to be very hard on the ring, the 3 sided pave is okay, but if she is indeed active...the 3 sided pave is definitely a liability.
