with my untrained eye, they all look the same. please pick one out and a brief explanation as to why would be very helpful for my own ref.

thanx sooo much

I''d pick the one on the far right (AGS-9513810) because it''s a smidge bigger than the others. They all look great, though.

What you could do is have Whiteflash look at all 3 side by side for you and tell you if any one stands out from the other three.

I would also make sure that all three are eye clean just to be on the safe side.

ITA with Thing. Whiteflash is really great at comparing side by side and one might just have a WOW factor in person that WF could tell you about.

I really like AGS-9513810, all the angles on it look just perfect and it will have the biggest spread.
All good choices though, can''t go wrong with any of them.

tx ladies.. as a man trying to pick out the perfect ring, i''ll tell you it''s freaking hard. you guys have it easy.. well aside from that giving birth thingie.. anyhow i''ll post another set soon if you can help me further

From the info given it looks like the table is larger than what is normally preferred, also we need the crown and pavilion angles to judget the cut. Personally I would stick to diamonds of known and proven cut quality, such as the WF ones you listed above.

okay, i know AGS is preferred certificate for many pricescopers. however if i were to get a ESL from a reputable source then wouldn''t it make it better??

example, what do you think about this baby?
. Report: EGL
. Shape: Round
. Carat: 1.50
. Depth %: 61
. Table %: 57
. Girdle: M
. Measurements: 7.28-7.30X4.50
. Polish: Very Good
. Symmetry: Very Good
. Culet: None
. Fluorescence: None

We need the crown and pavilion measurements to be able to judge the cut, EGL uses percents which are said to not be as accurate as angles. EGL USA is considered by some to be the most accurate of the EGL labs, so it is important to know which branch of EGL graded the diamond such as EGL Israel, Antwerp, Europe etc.

So find out which branch of EGL graded this diamond. Ask for the crown and pavilion measurements, also if they can provide angles using a Sarin machine if available. Ask if they have an Idealscope image for this stone.

i''ve sent a questions off to white flash. hopefully they have something i''d love to hear

Is it the EGL diamond you are enquiring about?

yeah, i found it on white flash. i''m still months off but would like to check off the finding diamond task and move on to how to measure finger without notice

Just a thought, in case upgrading would ever be a consideration in the future, I don''t believe their EGL stones qualify.

side question... why doesn''t every diamond just go to AGS because EGL certs are obviously not worth as much?? as a seller wouldn''t i want to have it cert-ed by the most highly regarded cert agency?

Because in theory many people don''t know that AGS certs are the best, thus, if you expect a stone won''t get a great rating (especially for cut) it is beneficial to send it to a "softer" grader.

GIA is also a highly respected lab along with AGS. Some may send a diamond to other labs which they may think can give a diamond a higher grade for colour and clarity, than it may be awarded by AGS or GIA. See this page for more information and also how the grading labs rank.
