Great site you all have here. Have learned alot.

Have been looking for vintage/antique rings for awhile now and have my eye on two:

The first one has an OEC diamond - EGL certified, 1.95 ct, I to J color, I1, apparently with a slightly visible flaw:

the second one has an apparently non-certified OEC diamond, 2.01 ct, J to K color and VS:

Welcome!

As you will learn from this page, EGL isn't generally considered to be the toughest lab on grading diamonds - mounted or otherwise! Also I1 may not be eyeclean to your satisfaction and we don't know anything about this seller.

ericagrace however has a good rep here to the best of my knowledge, you can search for the company using the search tool at the top right of the page. I am no expert on old cut diamonds, but I must confess I find the EG diamond to be very beautiful.

I would shy away from the included diamond. I would love to buy anything from EricaGrace!!!

Ebay, not so much. Erica Grace stone is nice though, and so are they. They post here often and are very knowledgeable and seem to represent their goods honestly. I would buy from them personally.

ETA: Someone else was just on here yesterday posting about that Erica Grace ring...so you might want to call ASAP if you want it...

The ebay deal might be good but that seems like such a gamble to me if you cannot see the ring first and get it appraised.

Diamonds that are graded I1 tend to have visible inclusions. I probably wouldn''t go there.

As to EricaGrace diamonds, they have always had a nice eye and are honest and pleasant to deal with. Over the last few months their prices were creeping up beyond what a 2 person non-brick and mortar should charge IMO.

I''m very pleased to see that with the 15% "sale" their prices are once again at a level I can recommend.

They have many happy customers that have posted.

I usually advise against buying on ebay. We hear many horror stores here of people who buy a stone and then find that it''s not the color/clarity/carat that they were promised and then have an incredibly difficult time getting their money back. I''d check out oldworld diamonds, erica grace, singlestone, antiqueengagementrings, etc. instead.

There''s no reason with such a major purchase to risk an eBay vendor over an established B&M.
