Hi Girls. Well I am choosing between an asscher and a cushion. I love the asscher, but I am missing the sparkle that I see with other cut diamonds. Here are the stats between these two diamonds please help me choose. I really do not know what I prefer so it does not help for me to follow my heart on this choice. They are both graded by GIA.
Thanks ladies!

My vote will always be for a cushion, they have more fire and I love them. Don''t get me wrong, I originally wanted an asscher for years until I saw some cushions!

You sound like you have already made the decision and are a bit hesitant to go with the Asscher...so go for the cushion! I LOVE

Welcome!

If both these diamonds are with an online vendor, unfortunately we need detailed photographs at least to be able to assist you, cushions and asschers can''t really be judged without them as the numbers don''t tell you much.

Ditto.

Also, if size plays any part in it, I would imagine the cushion faces up a bit larger. But, we would need the diameter measurements to say for sure.

If you don''t LOVE the Asscher now, you won''t like it for long if you go for it. Not enough sparkle for some people and I completely understand where you''re coming from.

We''d love to se epics of both, though.

I have the rest of the dimensions. would that help at all it is an online vendor so they do not have pics

. Thanks ladies so far you have helped me a lot :)
Thanks for the welcome by the way!

Are you working with Blue Nile on this? I know they don't provide photos, but Mark Turnowski at Engagement Rings Direct and Jon at Good Old Gold can often source these cushions for you, screen them and provide you with photos. They also have upgrade policies and are great at picking cushions. Unfortunately, cushions have to be seen to be evaluated and similar specs can give you a wide variation in appearance and performance - they aren't like rounds in that respect. They are tricky little buggers.

No, actually I have been buying from Diamonds on Web. They are great and I have been happy with my purchases so far. I just asked them to e-mail me some more details about the stone. But it is an SI1? I am wondering if that is too low. They are going to examine it and let me know if it is eye clean or not.

I wouldn't buy an asscher or a cushion without seeing it first. There are many vendors who *will* provide photos -- or ship to an appraiser near you for in person examination FIRST.

Different size purchases might dictate different proceedures. This sounds like a sizable one.

ETA: Fancy cuts can't really be judged by the numbers alone IMHO.
