OK - if you saw my earlier thread, I am not finding really good bang for the buck when it comes to Princess cuts around .5ct. So, I requested two diamonds online and got Idealscope images on them. I would like for you guys to tell me whether it is a good deal or not.

Here is #1 -- .58ct, F, VVS2, VG/VG, 4.62 - 4.55 x 3.31 mm, Depth 72.7%, Table 69%. $1411 total.

Another image of the .58ct. Also - does the absence of red in the center of the diamond greatly impact its brilliance? I am assuming that is light leakage, but I am not going to get ideal for my budget or ct size.

This is #2 choice. .52ct, E, VS1, VG/VG, 4.46 - 4.41 x 3.22 mm, Depth 73% Table 69%. Price is $1311.

are these SuperbCert? my eye likes number 1 better, but could you post the girdle information? and the hole in the middle is fine.

Not SuperbCert - just a sourced diamond online. I am requesting the girdle info as we speak. It looks pretty great and in comparing the two, the dealer said that #1 appeared more "crisp," with a "better face," and more "substantial."

UPDATE: Girdle is medium - slightly thick.

C''mon diamond experts! Chime in! Am I getting a good deal or not????

Serious valuation for specific stones is best done by independent appraisers - they get paid for that. Valuations by vendors of another vendors'' goods will not, should not, and are not usually given here - I think the reasons are obvious...conflict of interest and violation of PS rules.

I''m not looking for a valuation - just a "yeah that rocks" or "no, the color seems to leak too much" kind of thing. Being a novice, I thought this forum might have some people who could share their knowledge.

I guess if someone feels they have a COI, they can abstain. Anyone else - please help! Nervous on buying this rock!

thebigad,

I don''t know a thing about Princess cuts so I have no advice to give

I do know that with most fancy cuts you really have to be able to see them in person or be working with a vendor who''s eyes you trust to see for you. I realize it''s a big purchase and wish you much luck..
