Help me make a Harry Winston inspired Micro Pave on a budget

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm looking to create an HW inspired micro pave, cushion cut e-ring (in the vein of https://www.pricescope.com/files/blog/harry-winston-micropave-ring-4.jpg,, just massively toned down) for between $5500-$6500. I have a couple of questions:

(1) Is this possible? I'm hoping with your help the answer is yes :)

(2) Suggestions on where to buy the setting and diamond from?

(3) Given the size of stone I'll be able to get (.75 - 1.00), will this setting style, which is often used on massive stones, still look good?

If it's of any help, she has a small 4.5 ring size.

I am eternally grateful for your help guys!

I'm just spit-balling it right now because I am an amateur, know little about cushion cuts, and have never looked at a halo setting in earnest. So while I should stop right now, I'll throw out a couple of things.

Setting 1200/white gold 1600/platinum.

I have done business with Yoni, and the people at Eternity are good to work with. Their halo settings get good reviews on here, and their prices, eps. for halo settings are very good. They can also call in stones in the NYC area, and can provide an ASET picture of your stone.

That's fantastic advice, thank you. The Yoni setting you linked is a good $1700 cheaper than any other competition I could find and from the pics it looks beautiful. I could get a much bigger diamond with that extra money.

Does anyone have any pics of the "Jasmine" setting from Eternity by Yoni? Also, what are people's thoughts on that diamond? It looks good to me (but what do i know!).

This one by Eternity is more expensive, but the profile looks more like the HW. I don't know how close you're wanting to get.

As for the diamond, it's best to have at least a photo before buying. The cushion cut can vary so wildly, numbers don't give you enough of a picture. Do you want a square or a rectangular cushion?

Add that to a Eternity Yoni setting and you're still well within your budget. I don't know how the GOG prices spec out to.

All great suggestions. I've contacted Yoni to see if I can get verification that the diamond Halda linked is eye-clean. The size/price seems pretty remarkable to me. I don't need something that's top top notch, given my budget, I just want enough bulk so that the setting doesn't look off.

Choosing between the settings Halda and EB linked is tough. To my eye, the Jasmine that Halda originally linked looks closer to the HW ring. However, it's tough to compare the side profiles because I've been unable to locate a profile shot of the HW ring.

Any other thoughts or suggestions? You guys (read: gals) are life savers.

I would reach out to Engagement Rings Direct (ERD), e-mail them your inspiration pic and budget for setting and cushion. They are so nice and accommodating!

This is what I would do. I'd call Mark and tell him that you need a HW style micropave halo with a cushion, out the door, for 6500. He'd be the best source.

ERD settings go for around 3k. Do you think it's worth it to upgrade the setting and end up with a .75-.85 diamond?

ERD settings are top quality. I think Mark can work out something for you to get a nice center with one of his settings. If you buy both the stone and the center from him you will get a better deal (usually the case with all our vendors). Just give him a call and ask him what he thinks he can get for you.

I'd shoot for 80 points or better, and yes, I do think that would work if you went for a nice modern (not crushed ice) faceted cushion. with E-F-G-H-I with eyeclean clarity.

I'd just tell him, nicest cushion possible at around 80 points and eyeclean in a HW halo setting. I think he'll find you something gorgeous.

Each setting is made to order for your stone too, and with cushions that's really what you want.
