bright ice, can't wait to hear which stone you like best!!!

I can already tell you, I like the 3.09 best!
I am thinking before I even have the appraiser look at it that it is not a great deal. It is beautiful but the color is way off so I can't help but wonder about clarity along with the fact that I can't take it out of the mount for full inspection. I will most likely send it back.

Does anyone want to buy it? I'll put it on DB if so for what I got it for.

I don't want to buy it, but maybe if you put pics of your own that might help someone who is interested. Wow, that a difference! Just for kicks, can you post a picture of them side by side. I am curious!!! :geek:

I love the 3.09! Are you keeping it? VERY Exciting!!!

Oh and I think a side by side pic would be helpful for PS'ers trying to decide between L-M-N and Q-R-S. Are you still having it appraised? Wow, that will be interesting to hear what the color really is?!?!

I am not getting a full appraisal on it, he will verify color, clarity and size for me. I will post photos of it when I can. Going out of town this evening so I'll do my best. This is where I am now. I love the 3.09 M. So I can keep my 2.73 N RB and buy the 3.09. OR I could sell the 2.73 back to Wink and get me a honking almost 4ct M OEC I have been drooling over. WHAT should I do?

aw that is a tough decision. I would go on your trip and think long and hard on it eta: vs rushing into something you are torn on. I think when you give it some time then you know what you really want. but those are just my thoughts. I am curious to hear what the appraiser says on the ebay stone. Have a great trip!!!

What is the price on the Ebay OEC?

Well, we expected it to be lower in color for sure, but that is pretty off :nono: I will be very interested to hear what your appraiser says. The stone could be dirty or it could have a bearded girdle like Kelpie's stone had that seemed to refect throgu hthe stone and make it look hazy. Anyways, if it is not for you it is not for you! You have to love the diamond first and foremost.

What don't you like about it? Size? Faceting? Color?

Something else to keep in mind is that it costs $9k versus $25k for the 3ct M! So there is a big difference in price to consider.

PLease post many comparison photos if you can!!

Oh gosh, what a decision. I swear I would go for the 4 carat honker! Then I'm sure DSS would never set in. But I guess if you go for the 4 carat honker then you'd have to be not very attached to your 2.73....hmmmm...Decisions! Desicions!

I am curious about the 2.66--what do you think about the color?

Oopsie, I somehow missed your previous post about taking the 2.66 to the appraiser--sorry about that, I was excitedly reading to see which one you were going to get.

If that's the one you are talking of reselling on DB, let me know--I swore I wouldn't go under 3 carats--but hey for that price if I change my mind I can easily sell it to my son who is in the very beginning phases of looking for an e-ring. He went to Tiffany's and suffered severe sticker shock....lol....I kind of felt sorry for him because he had such high expectations of what he could actually buy. :wink2:

Oh, regarding the other dilemma, Bright Ice do some thinking about what you *really* want and what you hope to get out of this move. Variety? Change? BIIIIG? Try to pin down your hopes for this purchase.

Actually, my mom might be interested in it...depending on what the appraiser says. Honestly, though, I'd rather buy it from the Ebay vendor so that there is the option to return if it doesn't work out.

Re: your dilemma -- I would personally rather have the modern RB and the 3 ct OEC. I appreciate both cuts and enjoy having both to admire.

I'm very excited to see what you decide. You've got some great choices!

I just saw an amazing looking 2.66 N on eBay a few days ago ...the pattern looks really promising. I would look it up. They had it listed at I think 7995 to start. I totally thought of you when I saw it since I recalled you were looking around 2c from your last post about that stone that didn't work out...I meant to come post it for you and kept forgetting!

Comparably I saw a 2.65 N VS recently and it was about 10k so that starting price is pretty good.

ETA...I see I should read the whole thread first, you found and bought the stone I was thinking of! I can't wait to hear what you think of it in person. If I hadn't just bought my ring a few weeks ago I would have jumped all over that. Love the creepy model hand in all of their photos, hahaa!

Update :!:
I went ahead and sent the 2.66 back to the e-bay vendor. I am going to have a surgery tomorrow, did not want it hanging around and miss my return period. I took some pictures with my phone before though with both together, but they are horrible. Can't get around to posting them until most likely Saturday night as I will have an overnight stay in the hospital after my surgery.

I am holding onto the 3.09 for a bit longer.

I spoke with Victor Canera about the 3.09 in reference to whether the price I can it buy for (not the list price) is reasonable and he assures me it is. He threw me a curve and told me a little secret that I won't talk about right now :o

So I am going to have to think longer and hard about this decision.

Mara was the diamond BI bought previously listed as an N color? When she bought it it was listed an L color :nono:

agh, you are killing us now! :cheeky: That is smart to send back the 2.6 best wishes for your surgery and a speedy recovery!

And best wishes for a safe and easy surgery BI*

Oh gosh! Your having surgery tomorrow. Wishing you a super speedy and pain free recovery! :)

Hope you do feel better soon! Yes, best to get something like that shipped back right away I have to agree.

First, I wish you a speedy recovery from surgery; hope all goes well. This is very exciting for you! And, I'm dying to know the secret Victor shared with you. :naughty:

I was considering the diamond .. would have really loved to see proper photos and comparisons.

Best wishes for your surgery honey.

Oooh DD thanks for catching, I was 'remembering' N but I saw the same listing you did so it must have said L. I did think it looked a wee bit warmer tho.

BI, hope your recovery is swift. That 3.09 looks fantastic.

If it were me, I'd keep the 3 ct OEC and the RB instead of going for just the 4 ct OEC. That way you have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the well wishes related to surgery. Everything went well, I'll just be down for 4-6 weeks for recovery.

I wanted to upload the photos I promised on the E-bay ring. Please excuse the photo quality.

I took the ring by for the appraiser to take a look at it, his thoughts were not an L, more like a U/V (described it as having brown), it had abrasions on the crown, a natural. He felt it was in the VS range. Thought what I paid was too much, not a good deal.

I received information on another one just before going into the hospital. This would get me into a much more reasonable price range. What do you think of it?

Does it look like the cutlet is off center?

2.89 GIA L SI1(eye clean) 8.71 x 8.76 x 5.46. Table 51%, depth 62.5%

Just checking in and glad to see you are feeling well enough to be posting! :))

Wow that stone on the left above almost looks like a light yellow. Might be good for someone who is looking for a stone where the yellow could be enhanced!

First, wow that ebay stone is golden yellow! U/V, that is pretty far off an L! And yup, for that color $9k is not a great price. Still might be comparable to OWD it seems, since a GIA 2.17ct "S-T" is $9400. Of course, that stone at OWD has a lab report etc. For $6k it might have been a good buy, but even then, not a huge deal.

Did you leave feedback? I wonder if this is a case where you leave neutral feedback at best, saying color was off and really a U/V. It would wanr future buyers who could look up your feedback for the item.

For anyone else interested, or just as a point of information, if you liked the look of the diamond despite the color rating, you could have contacted the vendor and told them about your appraisers opinion and asked for a price adjustment into a range you felt was reasonable. Some vendors are open to that, and in some cases like this, it might be warranted. Not sure if they would come down enough to Worst they say no and you return it. So just for those following along, buying the stone and getting the appraisal is not necessarily the end of the story *if* you like the diamond but think the price needs reconsideration once you get your own assessment of its characteristics.

The new stone looks nice, can't tell if the culet is off center or not. I am a little wary of the table area, I suspect it goes dark quite easily... just looking at that one photo.

Glad your surgery went well. Wow, thanks for the pics! That is very very warm! Did you find a stone or still looking?

Hi bright ice,

Are there pics of the 4 ct old mine from Wink any where?

Personally, if that stone is nice, I'd trade in the RB and get that one! I'm all about bigger is better. Although to be fair, I am not a huge RB fan, so for me the loss is minor.

However, if you'd prefer to have 2 "smaller" stones for the variety and ability to swap, then of course go with that. :)

Keep us posted!!

Anne

I would definitely get this stone that Skippy posted above. It is graded by EGL USA who are fairly accurate, usually off by 1 color grade,...hard to find a VG/G for polish and symmetry in the Euro cuts:

Did you see this 3 carat I SI1?
