Looking to purchase .5 ct each diamond stud earrings. Prefer G/H, SI, excellent cut earrings. What will this cost me about and can any recommend some places to purchase from. Of course the better the price the better.

I managed to get a pair of excellent cut J SI1s, 0.43 and 0.42 ct with GIA certs, set locally in platinum, from Blue Nile for a total cost of just over $1,300 in January. They are beautiful. Of course, better color will cost you more. Blue Nile has great prices, but has only a 30 day return policy (not lifetime). There are no pictures of the actual stones, but my stones were fabulous anyway.

I got mine from Whiteflash and couldn''t be happier.

BlueNile and Mondera have a lot of diamonds paired with GIA and AGS certs, so you can look for the color and clarity you want. I didn't find anything with a quick search at Mondera. BlueNile has 19 pairs of diamonds G-H SI1-SI2 ideal cut diamonds between 1.04ctw and 1.23ctw, prices ranging from $3014 to $3439). None of these include the settings ($325 for platinum four prong studs). Be sure to compare the specs of the diamonds -- do they have similar diameters, depth percentages, tables, etc.? You can also use the Holloway Cut Adviser to make sure the crown and pavilion angles go together well.

Good Old Gold has these 0.93ctw G SI2 hearts and arrows diamonds for $2355 (these already include a white gold setting -- these are not upgradeable unlike some of GOG's stones).

WhiteFlash has this 1.03ctw F-G SI1 pair for $3002 (with the PS discount -- these stones can be upgraded later). WhiteFlash also has "ready set go" studs that would be I SI ideal cut stones for $2325.
