Help me ID natural or synthetic pink sapphire in antique ring!

I posted my new-to-me ring over in Antique Jewelry, but wondering if CSers can lend some insight into the sapphire. I am assuming synthetic until proven otherwise, but I don't know enough to tell and I'm having a hard time seeing any growth lines at all. The stone is not quite eye-clean, but I can't tell if what I am seeing is natural rutile or indications of rapid growth.
