I''ve been reading, and learning, and shopping for a while now.

I finally decided to upgrade my old, so-so cut, .5 ctw diamond studs purchased from a local jeweler years ago.

These are the stones I picked:

I also need setting suggestions. Which setting style would you choose??

I think they''re both nice stones. As far as settings, mine are basket set. I got them instead of the martinis because I was worried about the martinis stretching out my holes. At .5 ct each, there shouldn''t be any drooping with the baskets.

An excellent pair!!! I also got the 4 prong baskets for the same reason oshinbreez mentioned, plus, I just like an even number of prongs!

I''m no expert but they look good to me. What a perfect size! I got the martini b/c everyone said they show minimal metal and maximum sparkle. I am very pleased with them. I got WG b/c I didn''t feel the need to get plat for earrings and I am happy with my choice. They have not stretched my ear holes any more than any other earrings.

TY, Oshin and DS!! Both score well. And they are very close in diameter. Knowing someone else agrees helps boost the confidence level. If ya know what I mean!

Thanks, Gail, for the input about the Martini settings. I'd read in some older posts that people had had the "hole" problem. Good to hear yours are working well for you!! I am older so "sagging" is a real concern for me. Too many heavy hoops when I was younger I guess.

I realized I didn't say I intend to go WG.

I am really torn about the setting.

The 8 prong Martini look very delicate. But I like the swooping "basket" of the W-Prong too.

Those stones are a LOVELY match and will making AMAZING new studs! WOW, ACA studs, yum! I prefer the basket settings myself, but I don''t think you''ll go wrong with any you choose.
