hello, all! I''m new to the forum, but I''ve been lurking for a couple of months now. I was hoping someone could give me their opinions regarding my future purchase.

We already have a frame and are looking for a diamond now. I think we''ll buy from abazias since they are PS approved, have competitive prices and from my search here, people seem to be satisfied with their customer service. What I want is a 1 carat round diamond with a good cut, any color up to I and a nice clarity under (as little inclusions as possible) $4,000. I''ve spoken to an abazias rep, and he will be looking for something to fit my criteria. In the meantime, I have found a diamond that seems good on paper, but I''m not too sure about a couple of things. I will surely take it to an independent appraiser once I buy it, but I don''t want to waste time and money buying a sending stuff back.

Specs:
Weight: 1.04
Cut: round
measurements: 6.52-6.52-3.99 mm
Depth: 61.2%
Table width: 56%
Crown height: 15%
Pavilion depth: 43%
Girdle: Thin, faceted
Cutlet: None
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: very Good
Clarity VS2
Color: I
Florescence: Very slight

Comments: 8 Hearts & 8 Arrows: this diamond was polished utilizing superior precision and craftsmanship, its exquisite proportions generate the appearance of 8 hearts and 8 arrows, when viewed at the correct angle and under the proper lighting conditions.

PS cut adviser gave it a 0.9

Cost: $3,500
"Fingerprint" looks clean other than 2 feathers in the girdle.

My questions about this are:
1) I was under the impression that the thinner the girdle is, the better, But now I have read on that, and opinions differ. Does this stone have a good enough girdle size?

2) I don''t know how I feel about fluorescence as I''ve never seen it IRL. In this diamond I''m guessing it wouldn''t be that vivid, but what would it look like?

I apologize for naive stream of questions. This is my first time shopping for diamonds, let alone my engagement ring. i want it to be prefect.

Thanks in advance!

1. With girdles, it''s not the thinner the better. You want to avoid extremes and lots of variation, this one should probably be fine.

2. You''ll never even notice slight fluor. Don''t worry about it.

Can you get an idealscope image or pictures? That would be the one thing I would want to see before purchase...

Welcome!

Firstly does the diamond have an EGL or GIA lab report?

Girdle is fine and so is the fluorescence.

Yes, what grading report is that? Can you list the angles if possible? HCA is a little inaccurate when depth % is used.

Looks like EGL-I. found the same stone listed but cannot view the report.

Thank you for the welcome.

Yes, its EGL-I, which is not very accurate, from what I''ve read, but abazias seems to pick good stones.
I have the certificate for it, which is not posted on-line, but everything in it is in %, not angles. I copied all the info I had to my OP.

I will request pictures from them as soon as they get back to me.

If you decide to buy it, definitely bring it to a independent appraiser. EGL grading are soft color and clarity, so you might be getting a lower color / clarity then stated in the report.

Oh, independent appraisal is a must, of course.

Please post the images when you get them, then we can go from there.
