Actually, I'm looking for the perfect color of nail polish! :naughty:

Please suggest an opaque, matte, wine or burgundy shade, but not too red. I definitely don't want it to look black, but I want something very dark.

Any suggestions???

Revlon Vixen, perhaps?

Essie's "Wicked" might fit the bill. There was a nail polish thread up a couple years ago when all the dark wines/browns/almost blacks were gaining popularity. Wicked is pretty dark but doesn't look black or red...I think it might work for you.

OPI "Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ"

I found a picture of Mrs. O'Leary's BBQ...

Pretty!

Anybody have Chanel's "Vamp?" Is it a metallic?

I have what must be the world's oldest bottle of Vixen still in use. It was Revlon's answer to Vamp because who wants to spend that much money on a bottle of nail polish? Vamp and Vixen are not metallic. I've been in love with OPI Black Cherry Chutney lately.
I can give you a better answer later when I'm home from work.

Essie "Lincoln park after dark" is a nice deep burgundy

OPI Malaga Wine. It looks bright when applied, but turns into a beautiful wine color after it dries.

LPAD is OPI...and it's SUPER dark and purple...

The Essie color I was going to suggest was a limited edition. Malaga Wine is a gorgeous color, but may not be dark enough. My bottle is ancient. If there's an Ulta or Sally's near you, I'd suggest a trip. Most of them tend to go more purple when they get dark, or brown. I love dark colors also. No french manicures for me; if I'm paying the money to have them done, I want color. And isn't it amazing how the slightest change in shade or hue can make or break the color?
