I know some of you have helped each other find diamonds they love so I am asking for your help.

I am Looking for AGS 000
Budget 21000
2.2 ct or more
8.5mm or larger
prefer no lower than I but will take a J if it has some flourescence
prefer not to go lower than SI1, MUST BE EYE CLEAN

and it has to sparkle like mad

Help me find my new diamond

I've never heard of IGI

Checking them out

AGS and GIA are the two reliable labs. I wouldn't even consider anything else.

IGI is what stores like Zales use a lot.

Honestly, it's a gorgeous stone and for the budget and size, I'd at least ask for an idealscope and then you can decide for yourself if it's crap or not. I really don't care if it's "GIA OR AGS". You can always send it to GIA to get it certified there, but you don't need to pay for that now. Just thinking about your DDS...

Kristalulu, that GOG is a contender

I also saw the GOG stone but wasn't sure if you'd do SI2. But I don't think Jon would put a stone in inventory that wasn't eyeclean. I think it definitely is worth considering!

The problem with lab reports other than AGS and GIA is that typically, diamond sold with EGL or IGI trade for MORE money than the same diamond would sell for with a GIA report. Consumers lose out this way. Diamond cutters/vendors target certain diamonds to a particular lab based on making the most money for a particular diamond. That is why with those labs you can see a tonne of "J" color and "SI1" stones... because vendors know that the same diamond would be worth so much less if it had a GIA report and an L color I1 grade.

There seems to often be a misperception that steering people away from diamonds with those reports is some form of snobbery or "paper love". It is not. It is dollars and cents.

if it was worth going to GIA/AGS lab it would have been there by now... ;))

The IGI diamond is pretty to the eye but I would want to get it appraised or sent to GIA before committing. I would want to know what the "real" color and clarity are before determining a fair price.

Still looking

What about this one? http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-3464133-2.45-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-SI1-Clarity.aspx?sku=3464133&utm_source=pricescope.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=pricescope.com

Nevermind, saw you're only looking for AGS000. Pretty tough! I saw that your old stone was almost 2 cts, I don't know if you'll be happy with a 2.2 - so I only looked at stones that were at least 2.4.

Oh, and this will be within your budget for an AGS000 but it's a J color with no fluorescence: http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.31-carat-J-color-VS2-clarity-Ideal-cut-sku-178815

I don't necessarily agree with this but to each their own. I would buy a beautiful stone that isn't GIA graded if it met my requirements and would send it to GIA for insurance purposes.

autumngems, this may be worth looking into if you think the igi is trash:
