So I have decided it is time to propose and I was hoping to get some help from you guys. My budget is $2k.

I have looked for topics in the forum about www.worldjewels.com and only found stuff from 5 years ago where people were complaining they didn't list enough information about the diamonds ie the 4Cs.

Also a buddy of mine proposed about 8 months ago and he got this ring:
http://www.worldjewels.com/_e/Engag...Womens_Diamond_Ring_1_85_ct_tw_CERTIFIED_.htm

Everyone including my girlfriend loves the ring. At the engagement party all the women couldn't believe how nice the ring was. All I could find was good stuff about the website but there stuff almost seems too good to be true. I mean I have seen the ring myself and it looks great to me but I'm no diamond expert. But, really should I worry about it that much since everyone loved it?

So anyways any information about where I can find a great ring on my budget would be appreciated and also any information on worldjewels.com would help as well. If this isn't a reputable place to get diamonds are there any other places like this I should be worried about. Sorry, I know this is probably in some of the forums already but I have spent the last couple of hours looking and couldn't find much.

BTW I'm hoping to get a ring that has atleast a .7 carat center round diamond.

As far as oldworld, I had never heard about it before this thread but there are a couple concerns - it says "CERTIFIED" but never says which lab certified it or if it was an independent appraiser- so you cant be sure what youre getting as far as color and clarity. The range of colors and the "very good" cut as also concerns. However, there is a return policy and their site says all their diamonds are natural -I couldn't find anything about being clarity enhanced which was my initial suspicion. I would be really uncomfortable ordering from there without more information ... I will keep an eye out for other options.

Thanks. After reading other post on this site it truely amazes me how friendly everyone is.

I dont know anything about the website you mentioned but with your budget you should be able to find a nice stone in the .7 carat range(depending on the shape) in a simple solitaire setting. Do you think your girlfriend would like a solitaire? What shape stones do you like?

personally I like princess cut but I know she loves the round cut. As for solitaire/three diamonds etc i'm not sure what she prefers not sure how to ask without giving away im about to propose

I would be looking at this diamond - http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-I1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1441387.asp -- pretty clean for an I1 which is probably what you're getting at that oldworld site - and much better cut! you would be getting the pricescope price which is $1080.

with a setting like this - http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/18k-White-Gold-Thin-French-Cut-Engagement-Ring.html
Price of $650
Total of $1730 - you could even get a bit more bling on the setting and go for the bigger version of that setting - http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/White-Gold-2-1mm-French-Cut-Pave-Engagement-Ring.html

Thank you very much... jamesallen seems to be the place a lot of people shop.

any other advice... really trying to stay away from i1 diamonds...

I found out she likes the vintage type setting that has the diamonds in the band... also i've increased the budget to $3k
