Oh my so I am hoping to get some help with picking out a nice e-ring - I have learned a lot but still overwhelmed with the choices out there.

Some things I think she likes:

- Vintage ring/band design, not thick but inter weaved thin metal with some accent or diamonds
- halo-style
- detailed basket and a really nice side view. She appreciated the Vera Wang rings at the local garbage jewelry stores because there was more detail put into the mount and basket.

She really doesn't like "big" rings but she did like the halo - which is not necessarily bad for me as that might make the overall carat weight lower. I think she wants something she can wear day to day so lower profile/low basket height is advantageous so it doesn't get caught on things. She is a mom and works in financial area (computer work) as additional detail.

I estimate her finger size around 7.5, maybe 7.75. She can squeeze some of the demo rings onto her finger but it was too tight for comfort if it fit at all.

I have started looking at Steven Kirsch, Leon Mege, Victor Canera etc but haven't seen the "vintage" style design so much.

Overall budget not set but I would like to keep it under or around $5-6K if possible. Any help is really appreciated!

Your budget isn't going to allow you to get a Victor piece. His halo settings start at 4k.

So here's what I'd do.

I'd call Pearlmans Jewelers (they are in Battle Creek, Michigan).

I'd ask for images and an idealscope image of this diamond:

https://myapps.gia.edu/ReportCheckPortal/getReportData.do?reportno=1156401401&weight=0.850 85 points 3,640 H SI1 at 84 point. Which is one of their in house stones. Also ask them if it is eyeclean. If it is not have them find you another like it that is.

And I'd put it in one of these settings which are very budget friendly and also great quality. Plus they have the vintage style you said she likes.

You can also work with Engagement Rings Direct for a lovely custom CAD halo for around 3k. So that leave you about 3k for the stone.

ERD settings: (they have a ton, just browse)

www.engagementringsdirect.com/grace-classic-micro-pave-halo-enagement-ring-bpid-58-18.html (they can make it for a round)

I'd ask ERD to find you an 75-80 point H SI eyeclean ideal cut diamond for the center. And they can do that easily.

Thank you for the very nice suggestions! She said specifically she does not like 3 stone rings, sorry RockyRacoon. But I do like how the basket in the pearlmans and ERD suggestions have some detail.

Price was a starting figure. I could spend upwards of $8K or even a little more if it was something really really nice, but I would hesitate to spend so much as she seems to like the more inexpensive rings and we have other priorities we could use the money for.

I saw this ring: http://www.eternitybyyoni.com/engagement-rings/diamond-engagement-ring/Eleanor-Twisted-Diamond-Band-&-Halo-Ring-(.62-ctw..)-361.htm
I like the way the band weaves... Is there a name for that type? I can't see the basket too well but this is along the lines of what she said she likes...

sorry, double post...

We browsed some more stores and she said she likes this:

Slightly higher price than I was hoping for but the style is very nice. Because the halo is a bit big, she was looking at a smaller (7- .8 ) center diamond. She really likes the details in the ring and basket though.

Whats the best way to shop for this as I have never purchased expensive jeweler before... any comparable out there

try contacting https://www.etsy.com/shop/CVBinspiredDesign

she does amazing interesting designs. And may be more in your budget. She does halos with interesting baskets and other designs ive noticed. WE know VC is out of budget, but im not sure about her. An email is free though :wavey:

picture attached.

And Id probably pair it with something like this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-04ct-J-VS1-EGL-USA-CERTIFIED-OLD-EUROPEAN-CUT-LOOSE-DIAMOND-ANTIQUE-ENGAGEMENT-/151235668096?pt=Loose_Diamonds&hash=item2336592880

(Im not an old cut expert, but i like the way that looks and the seller is reputable. Plus the price leaves you a nice amount for a setting)
