I have been looking for an engagement ring for my SO for a month now and I am at a total loss -

The most important factor for me is the sparkle - I have narrowed it down mostly to between Blue Nile and Whiteflash -

Here is what I am looking for - 0.65-0.8 karat, VS2/SI-1, G-H, Budget - $3,000 for the stone (prefer $2500)

I have looked at Whiteflash's a cut-above or Expert Selection and they seem to be significantly more expensive than a ideal virtual selection. So I have a few questions ?

- Can a Blue Nile ideal cut sparklte as much as a Signature Ideal or A Cut Above and is it worth paying the premium ?
- I have never seen a hearts and arrows in person, would it even matter at 0.6k. All I care about is how it looks to the naked eye. I'm not sure if hearts and arrows diamonds are more beautiful to the naked eye ?
- Are the settings of a similar build and quality when comparing between James Allen, White Flash and Blue Nile ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated -

As I am from Europe I have never seen JA or Whiteflash settings, but did see bluenile and they are quite fine. I suppose JA and WF are at least as good.

As for the other questions: yes it could look as good (but of course not every stone) and no, the H&A diamonds do not necessarily attract a consumer´s eye more than a "usual" ideal cut :-)

Anyway, digging in the bluenile stock I would recommend you this diamond. Not because it is signature, but because the stone seems to be really fine and the price is good.

But check if it is eye-clean.
To me it is the best stone from bluenile in the range you gave.

This stone http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/G-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1434931.asp is 0.6ct. only, but the cut is quite nice and the price is really good. But again I do not know if it is eye clean. Also it has strong fluorescence, so I would check whether it affects this particular stone somehow with the JA gemologist.

Not a bad stone:
http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/Diamonds/diamond-details/0.760-H-VS2-Round-Diamond-GIA-33836176 again strong fluorescence, so needs to be checked

Sorry, seems that the 1st (bluenile) stone´s gone.

I am consistently amazed by the beautiful offerings vintage dealers have. Don't forget to check some of them out. Pricescope has an Antique and Vintage jewelry tab under Forum to see what I mean. :twirl: Good luck!

Thank You all very much for all your help -

I ended up getting this one

Would someone mind offering some critique - I still have 48 hours to confirm the order.

All your help is greatly appreciated.

looks good...and if you don't like it once you get it, BN has a return policy (I think they do on loose stones...not sure on finished rings...check on this)
