Hello! I am new to the forum and just happened to stumble across it. I am 25 and am proposing to my girlfriend. I already have the setting picking out. I''m buyin the setting from Robbins Bros but I know I can get a better deal on the center stone so I need your help. I want a 2 Carat Round cut. I really dont know anything about diamonds but I know I want a good one. I was thinking of spending anywhere from $7-$10K on just the stone so please help me....I live in Houston,

Hi,

I don''t know too much myself, but I''m thinking $10k for a top quality 2 carat will be tough. However, I see you live in Houston, that is where WHITEFLASH.COM is located. Call Jamie at WF, she is awsome!!! Tell her what your thinking, I''m sure she can help you. Good Luck

Because with your budget, you''re already stretching it for a quality stone at 2 ct.

If you''re not in a hurry, you can find a great 2 ct. stone for a good price, but you may have to do some looking. I second the recommendation for Whiteflash. They will look at the stone for you, and give you their honest opinion. In addition, they''ll send highly magnified pics, and test reports to help you make your decision.

If you are in Houston you really should go visit whiteflash and see what they have in their inventory maybe they can find something for you and have it shipped to their store so you can view it?
If you make an appt with whiteflash it would be helpful to have them explain the importance of cut, as well as run through carat size, color, clarity if you haven''t done that already, its very helpful to view different stones and compare them to see what your preference is for a stone
In case you haven''t considered it yet...you can find stones right under the 2ct mark for a much better price, the 2ct is one of those ct weights that comes with a price hike

best of luck!
