Help me find a big fat cushion please?

My only hesitation on this is that it’s a GIA K and I’m color sensitive. I’m hoping the color from the side view is not a big deal when he send more videos on Monday.

You have options. You can design a setting to highlight what you want and mask what you don’t love. Having said that if the K bothers you you either need to go up in budget for a higher color or find a smaller size in a higher color.

I have seen drop dead gorgeous K color old cut stones (@LLJsmom amazing OEC for example comes to mind immediately) and keep in mind old cuts carry color differently. Seeing it in person will be key to see if this is the one for you. K old cuts can be quite gorgeous.

I am color sensitive too but in old cuts I prefer a little warmth. It adds a depth and something I cannot put into words but comparing whiter to a bit warmer old cuts I prefer the slightly warmer old cuts every time. If we are talking other cuts no I prefer higher colors but with OECs and OMCs there is something appealing about a little bit of warmth. To me anyway. Judge with your own eyes and see what your thoughts are.

I am a huge fan of the VC Sophia... @Acinom’s ring is stunning but I’m just indecisive enough that I’m scared to commit to it. I’m likely going to set whatever stone I get in a temporary doubleprong solitaire and live with it for a bit before I decide on its final home. @missy Your Bubbalah is TDF and certainly looks higher than J in every one of her glamour shots. I agree that old cuts lend themselves to a bit of warmth so I’m crossing my fingers!

@Keeliamira I think a double prong solitaire (a la Boston Jeff) is the perfect setting for a gorgeous old cut cushion/OMC.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you too!

I’ve purchased from Adam (thanks to @missy’s recommendation). His descriptions were accurate and he provided great customer service. Are you color sensitive in modern, old or both cuts? I like lower color in older cuts and wouldn’t hesitate to consider a K. I really like the shape of the diamond you are considering.

Thanks! My daughter is trying to convince me to go OEC, lol.

I am color sensitive in modercuts for sure. In older cuts, not as much. I know it depends a lot on each individual stone. I feel like I’ve looked through every “K” related thread on PS hoping to find an answer but it really comes down to seeing it IRL.

Are you going to have him send it to you? It looks really lovely. I wouldn’t hesitate over a K. I have bought a lot from Adam and always find him very honest, I’ve never felt that his descriptions of a stone were off at all.

Thanks for sharing your experience with him; I really appreciate it! I am probably going to have him send it but I’m waiting to see some additional pictures/videos in natural light, etc.

I love it. Bright and lively with a yummy chunky facet pattern. Must see in person imo.

What do you think about the color in the face down pic @missy ? I edited and added it to my prior post.

I think it looks beautiful. And you should see it in person with your own eyes. To my eye it’s gorgeous.

IMHO it's gorgeous from all angles. But of course you have to love it!

Ooh that huge cutlet and Maltese cross faceting are TDF! Personally I like white stones, but this has character....reminds me of my nana's yellow lace.

Not trying to be 'that guy' ;)) but I think you mean 'culet' - although a huge cutlet with some gravy and mash is also appealing to me right now! :D lol

OMG I am soooo excited (but have some serious anxiety too) because I just wired OWD an unseemly amount of money! (Well worth it of course!). But Gaaaawwwd the wait for Saturday delivery will surely kill me!

Hope it is the stone of your dreams!!!

Thanks! Me too!!!!!! It’s has been such a crazy couple of weeks! But this sparkly treat is showing up the same day my son is coming home from four months in the hospital so there is no way my weekend could be better :mrgreen2:

Here’s the GIA cert btw. https://www.gia.edu/report-check?reportno=6193170413&s=1541629360192
And Adam is working his magic to adjust the girdle because there is one small area that’s “very thin”. He said he can improve the thickness without loosing weight or impacting the shape. :geek2:

Crown / Depth proportions of this diamond are NOT good! Too shallow crown, too big depth!

If this were an MRB, that would be true. But with OMC's and other old cuts, the "science" of the round brilliant cut doesn't apply. That's why there's no CA, PA, etc. on the report. They are invariably cut deeper, with a much higher crown (which is what people like about them!). They may not blind you, but they sparkle with delicious big flashes of light and the slight imperfections of 100+ year old stones.

Adam is an old cut expert, and if he says it's good and Keeliamira has seen the images and agrees, it's probably all good. :)

It’s here! And I need the PS gurus to help weigh in please. I like it but I don’t know if I’m in love with it yet. Your thoughts? @missy @lovedogs @OoohShiny @leukolenos any anyone else. I tried to keep my finger prints off of it but wasn’t altogether successful. Warning...pic overload to follow.

I love it!!! Gorgeous faceting. Soft bright colors and even light play across the stone from what I can tell. And the pillowy profile and puffy crown and the shape. Swoon! :kiss2:

What do you think? Take it around to all the different rooms and outside and have fun learning about its personality. From what I can see it’s gorgeous.

I'm not trilled. Not the best OMC and not enough unique character.

I'm inclined to think that if you don't love it now, you may well not love it in the longer term - do keep testing it out in different lighting conditions, but if it's not calling to your heart, you must set it free and keep on looking!
