Hello everyone,

After spending reading the many posts here, my understanding of diamonds has been enlightened by the knowledge of the members on this forum. Last year, I bought for my wife a GIA 1.12 carat, E color, VVS2 that was very nice according to her! Fortunatly, one of my sister had an HOF for me to compare with, and from what I saw the HOF was about 15-20% better in term of performance for a lot more money. After reading from this forum, I then knew that the pavilion angle/depth was out of the ideal range, but it still got AGS 1.

Here is the specs:

Total Depth: 61.6%
Table Size : 57%
Crown Angle: 34.5
Crown Height: 14.5%
Pavilion Angle: 41.4
Pavilion Depth: 44.0%
Star Lenght : 60%
Lower Half: 75%
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Flourescence: None

Please let me know what you think about this in term of brilliance, fire... if any.

Thanks,

Tom

Simulated IS image based on the numbers.
You can see it has some table leakage.
You eyes pretty much nailed it when comparing to the HOF.

light return is pretty good just a bit under where the best score.

Contrast is a bit down which hurts fire.
So my take and assuming it has decent optical symmetry is that its a bright diamond but down a bit on fire.

It is likely better than 90%+ of any diamond out there overall.

What is that tool you are using to provide light return / contrast info?

Thank you! The demo only runs Marquis diamonds, right? I just bought this round diamond and would love to have that information for my diamond. Could you maybe plug these #''s in for me? I promise I won''t ask for another. I realize that you probably want to avoid becoming the board''s own Diamond Calc''er so if you don''t want to do it I totally understand. Thanks.

to be honest I cant tell you anything using DC that the information Wf provides with the ACA wouldnt tell you.
Actual IS images are much prefered.
Contrast will be in the high 90s close to 1, light return also.
classic or newline can also change the results a few points here or there.

Thank you very much Strmdr. When I asked for help, I would never expected such a professional evaluation for the diamond. When I used GIA Facetware Cut Estimator, the cut was estimated to be Excellent but GIA Report Check(using GIA Report: 14796985) gave it a Very Good cut. We picked this diamond knowing nothing about choosing diamonds. It could have been worst!!
Now back to the HOF! When we compared them together under different lighting sources, flourescent, incandescent, and sunlight. The HOF seems to be better(15-20%) with indoor lighting but with sunlight or natural light, it was very hard to tell them apart.

Once again thanks for your helps. I am deeply appreciated.

Tom
