Hello everyone and thanks in advance for reading.

Can you please tell me if this diamond is a good diamond for the price? I am looking for an eye clean diamond, that has a wow factor. The stone will be going on a halo setting.

I have attached an actual image of the stone (although a very poor image, but it's the only one I could get from blue nile), and also it's GIA report. I have been informed the diamond is eye clean and there is no negative effect on the brilliance from the fluorescence.

Thank you so much!

It has promise, if it's actually eye clean. The phrase means different things to different people. If it were me and they're willing to, I'd confirm that its inclusions aren't visible to the unaided eye at distances that'll matter to you (whether that's 4" or 10", and from what angles).

Are you okay with the color if it's going in a halo? Your smaller stones will probably be a higher color and the difference right next to each other is something to consider. :)

It's got all the right numbers and as long as it's eye-clean to your satisfaction...could be a winner.
I checked the price against stones on JA and it's a very good price. Most on JA were $18k on up.

I* personally wouldnt worry about an H in a halo. Smaller stones usually do look brighter than the center stone but lots of
people do H color stones (and lower) in halos. Who is doing your halo or where are you getting the setting?

Thank you everyone for the replies.

I have been looking for a diamond for months now, and this particular one is the best I've found so far for my budget and desired qualities. Which is eye clean, sacrifice clarity for more carat weight, and an excellent cut combination for that sparkle and fire. I wanted to run it by the forum here as I've found this forum to be a wealth of information and expertise.

As for the halo setting, I really love the Victor Canera Emilya Halo, and given I'm in Los Angeles and so are they, it would have been perfect. But unfortunately it's out of my price range, more than twice as much as I wanted to spend on a setting. They quoted me $4300 for the setting in platinum (only metal they do on the Emilya), and I wanted to keep it around $2000.

Originally I wanted to spend 15k for the diamond and setting, and as the diamond is 16.7k already, I've up'd my budget. But if I go with the Emilya I'm going over 5k over my original budget.

That was a long rant, but in short I have not found the halo setting I"m going to go with yet.

I received a response from bluenile, and they said "eye-clean" means:

"Eye-clean, that an average layperson viewing the diamond face-up from a distance of 6-8 inches would not be able to see any inclusions, but it is not a guarantee that no inclusions would ever be visible no matter how closely you scrutinized the diamond."

I also asked about any visible inclusions and they said:

"This stone is eye clean, no inclusion visible from the side & pavilion. no negative effect from fluorescence."

What do you think? My gut is saying go for it.

Why dont you have it sent to you? They have a very good return policy so if you see anything you dont like you can send it back.
You will have to pay for return shipping and insurance though.

Do you have to have a halo setting? I dont know of anyone that will do a custom one for that price. I wonder what David Klass
charges? It would probably be over $2k but might not be too bad.

What about a Vatche swan? It's a really lovely setting and would be under $2k.

Knowing I had 30 days to inspect and return the diamond, I went ahead and purchased it!

After speaking with blue nile customer service, they even said this diamond has all the numbers to qualify it for their signature ideal cuts.

Once I received the diamond I'm going to visually inspect it myself and confirm it's eye-clean to my liking, and then take it to an appraiser to confirm the quality and get cutting proportion and symmetry analysis, as well as Hearts & Arrows and Light Return ASET images.
