A ring or pendant. I have a diamond ring of my grandmothers (not her ering) and a sapphire ring she gave me when I was in my early teens. Neither are my style and I''d really like to make something out of them to wear. I may consider leaving the sapphire ring be if nothing sounds good and giving it my daughter if I should happen to have one. I''m thinking something either filigree or some kind of open look. I''d like to make a scattered diamond band ring but I think the diamonds are just too small. From my attempt at measuring the center diamond is 3mm and the outer ones are 1mm. I can''t see putting the heart sapphire in anything but it is 4mm and the baguette shaped ones are 1mm. Help!

First up the diamond ring.

And now the sapphire.

do you want to incorporate all the stones from both ring? or perhaps use some in a pendant like a the heart shaped one with little round melees around that, then with the diamond center, use all the other sapphires for the ring?

I''m open to using them all in one piece or several pieces. I am leaning twords leaving the sapphire ring be and making and old looking filigree ring using the diamond ring. Let me go hunt down a pic of what I''m thinking.

This.

It''s kinda hard to tell how many melee are in the sapphire ring but you could always turn the heart sapphire into a simple bezel pendant and make the baguettes and melee alternating in the band of your new ring with the diamond at the center like this:

Otherwise I kinda like the baguettes leading away from the stone, horizontally as pictured in these:

Or here''s a split shank looking kind of ring using the baguettes:

more split shank looking (think sapphire baguettes instead of rounds): http://www.faycullen.com/royal_collection/500/2001mds.html

I''m really into unstructured designs right now. Have you ever checked out Ylang/23 designs? They''ve got some interesting interpretations.

I''d think about a scattered band with the different size/shape/colored stones randomly set across the face.
