dear all,

i've got a 2.35ct diamond J color... its a warm stone...now i am looking into these two options.\

1) reset to halo setting in rose gold with matching eternity ring (each diamond is 0.03ct)

2) get only the eternity ring but each diamond (0.08-0.1 ct)

3) get only the eternity ring but each diamond (0.05 ct)

will option 2 be overwhelming my 2.35 ct???

I think your ering could handle .1 diamond eternity. I''m not so much a fan of rose gold but thats a personal thing. I like it with the right colored
gemstone but not so much with diamonds. Also, with diamonds I prefer it as an accent metal with wihite gold/plat/gold being the main metal.

As far as halos go... I only like halos on large diamonds if they are not round(the halo). Square or cut corner square halo would be the option
I would go with. This could be very pretty but you didnt give much detail on what kind of halo you would do. There are lots of pretty
halos on PS. Maybe if you found a picture like you want that would help others decide.

I vote option 2 because I tried on a 10 pointer with my 1.21 carat and it looked fabulous, although it was a tad bordering on the larger side for me, so I really think the 10 pointers for you will complement it very well. Have you tried on any. Try going to Jareds, and check around, I would just to make sure it's what you really want size wise.

.05 is what I'm having done for my ering and I probably should have gone up to a .07 or .08 but its done now

so with yours definitely not .05 jmho though, unless you were wanting two to flank your ring?

i was worried that the 0.08-0.1ct would overwhelm my diamond... the 0.03 was a bit small...i do not intend to flank my e-ring...

i''ve not tried the 0.1, i''ve tried the 0.03 and its rather small... so i thought that 0.05 would be good?

here is a thread of what a 5 point will look like with I think hers is almost a 1.2 ct, and I think it balance out well, so with your size a .10 pointer would give it more presence Link especially over 2 carats and imo will not overwhelm your diamond

Here is Jenn5504 beautiful 1.59 J with a 6 point eternity ring.

I have 10 pointers in my eternity and it looks great with my 1.77 stone set in a halo.

Can''t wait to hear what you choose!

I've been through many thinking process. Mayb you can help me out here... i do not have diamond mates around me to discuss

I have a set of rings 1.4ct flanked by 2x0.2ct (3stone) which is paired with U prong radiant cut eternity

I have a set of yellow gold rings, 0.2ct solitaire paired with a 1/2 eternity 0.41 ctw ring.

so for this 3rd set.. with is with my 2.35... i do not know if i should go:
1) Rose gold?
2) something halo
3) just make it a solitaire...

as for the eternity, if i choose the halo, i cant make it 0.1 as i tried the setting, it looks great with the 0.03ct.

the halo setting is really sweet as the basket has some teardrop petal design beneath the halo, something not seen here in PS before. very feminine but then again, i wonder if halo can go out of fashion...

as for the halo going out of fashion...as long as you love it does it matter? I have a halo and always wanted an antique inspired ring. I think if you buy the ring you love, the style you love, you won''t regret it later on. If you buy something but aren''t sure if you will love it 10 yrs from now, then you answered your own question.

GL! BTW lucky girl to have 3 sets...WOW

i am having so many thoughts at one go...

i wanted each set to have different style... the 1st set will be all white gold with all the elaborate 3 stone designs..

the second set is all yellow gold, and much simpler.

the third set which is what i am considering...
- go with the halo as i do not have such a style.
- do a 2 tone (yellow gold +white gold set) since my setting now is in 2 tone...
the eternity will be set in heart pattern shared prong, i've requested the jeweler to make the hearts in rose gold...

i even thought of wearing my eternity as a pendant...

but then again, when i look at halos.. its so elaborate and very very exquisite, looks very high end... unlike the plain solitaire...however if i set it in a halo, i will not have any huge diamond in single solitaire, both of them will be set in some fancy design...then i would not have any stand alone rock...but halos tempt me. help i can seem to decide! =(

nice ring you have atroop

...i drooled... your halo tempted me!!! so so delicious!

D&T thanks for posting all the references for me...i think i will cancel out the 0.05ct choice..

so its either halo with 0.03 or just solitaire with 0.08-0....

I voted for 2, because it''s similar proportions to my set, which I am very happy with (thanks D&T for posting pics & link!

)

My 8 pointer band is 2.8 mm wide, and it looks great paired with my ering or on it''s own. I wear a size 5 if that helps.

Also, the stones in the eternity band are F-G color, and even though my 2 ct stone is a G color, it''s EGL graded, so it may actually be as low as an H. Still, there is not a noticable color discrepancy between the stones. Also, the larger a stone is, the more body color shows. So, a 2 ct G diamond will look warmer than a .5 ct G diamond just because there is more stone to show color.

Either way, a J will still face up white, so if you go with G-H color stones in your eternity band, no one should be able to tell the difference unless viewed from the side at extreme close-up.

Atroop, yours is one of my favorite sets. It is GORGEOUS.

welcome ladies

. I love Atroop''s halo, but I also love the look of Vespergirl''s set. so you''ll find people will give you their opinions on what they like, but you are the one to wear the ring. Don''t worry about the trends, they go in and out, so stick to something that you think you can live with for a long time. I find that I love pictures of halos, but when I try them on it doesn''t work on my finger. Some people cant do a solitaire look and love three or five stone, so I would recommend just trying on a bunch of different look at a higher end jewelry store to get a feel for the setting. or maybe you have already done this? and are still confuse as ever?

i am very indecisive person... the jeweler had a hard time dealing with me... i got my radiant eternity ring, 2.35 and other presents from him. he knows my style and gave me time to think over before committing...

Thanks D&T for your suggestion. i agree with you on personal preference. Before my 3 stone, my 1.4 was set in solitaire, after converting into 3 stone, the look totally changed and i feel its not very e-ringish... i do missed the simple clean look of the solitaire... in fact i''m leaning towards getting the 8-10pointers eternity as the setting looks lovely and i can wear it as a pendant, alone or with the solitaire.

but atroop''s halo is so gorgeous and pairs up nicely with the 10 pointers. the its like a x100 bling factor with the halo... then again i agree with you that i need to try some halo and see if it suits my style...
