Hi PS'ers! I am debating on whether to switch out my current setting for the Facets Duo in platinum seen here http://www.signedpieces.com/item.cfm?item_id=3581
My current setting (seen in my avatar) is very similar in look, but it is white gold. I've had my set for about a year and it is in need of replating again, thus the reason for contemplating a change to platinum. I've replated twice already.
My center stone is a 1.51 I SI2 eye clean from the top. I am concerned that perhaphs my stone will not look as good with the higher color and much higher clarity Facets set. Will that be the case or with the Facets set just enhance the beauty more? Will the color difference between the Facets bands and my stone be too noticable?
The stats on the sets are as follows:
Current set:
Approx 1.69 tcw each band approx 4mm wide
e-ring band - 6 stones approx .13 SI1 G/H in color (cut good to very good)
w-band - 7 stones approx .13 SI1 G/H in color (cut good to very good)
Facets Set:
Approx 1.31 tcw each band approx 3mm wide
e-ring band - 6 stones approx .10 VVS-VS F-G color (cut premium to ideal)
w-band 7 stones approx .10 VVS-VS F-G color (cut premium to ideal)
I love the look of my current setting. It's a gorgeous, very "blingy" ring and I am forver getting compliments but think I would prefer platinum. I'm also thinking the combination of thinner bands with higher quality stomes will make my stone "pop" a little more.
