Hello everyone. I was hoping some of you could help me decide between these 2 diamonds I am trying to make up my mind about. One is a 4ct F S1 princess cut and the other one is a 3.5 ct D VS1 princess cut. My girl will be happy with either one and she wants a princess cut, but I''m kinda leaning a little towards the F S1 because it is 13k cheaper and bigger. As long as I can''t see the flaws with my naked eye I think it will be fine. However, I''m not an expert on diamonds so I don''t know what one I should go with. What would you ladies prefer if it was up to you? Here are the exact figures on both:

Carat weight: 4.10

Cut: Very Good

Color: F

Clarity: SI1

Depth %: 74.3%

Table %: 73%

Symmetry: Excellent

Polish: Very good

Girdle: Medium to thick

Culet: None

Fluorescence: None

Measurements: 9.08 x 8.67 x 6.44 mm

Length/width ratio: 1.05

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carat weight: 3.50

Cut: Very Good

Color: D

Clarity: VS1

Depth %: 69.8%

Table %: 71%

Symmetry: Very good

Polish: Excellent

Girdle: Medium to thick

Culet: None

Fluorescence: Very strong blue

Measurements: 8.46 x 8.37 x 5.84 mm

Length/width ratio: 1.01

Welcome to Pricescope Celtics!

First a few questions - have you seen either of these diamonds in person? Princess are hard to judge by numbers, so if you have actually seen them, you are ahead of the game! F SI1 can be an excellent choice if the cut is good and it is eyeclean to your standards, especially with the price difference. If you haven't actually seen the diamonds, then ask the vendor for detailed photos and an ASET image if they can get one.

One caution - these are going to be sizeable diamonds, I love size, but not every gal does, are you sure your GF wants a stone this large?

I agree, pics would be best. Just going from specs, I like the F better.

Thanks for the replies. No, I have not seen them in person yet. I was going to buy the one 1 like 1st from Blue Nile and either keep it if I like what I see in person or ship it back to them and get the other one sent to me in return. I know Blue Nile allows returns within 30 days so it won''t be a problem. I''m just trying to get it right the 1st time so I don''t have to go thru the hassle of returning it.

Ok, BN do not offer such services as photos to the best of my knowledge. Personally I feel it is difficult to judge without at least photos of the diamond, that is why I prefer to buy in house diamonds where the cut analysis has been done already etc. From the info given, I would start with the F SI but if you pursue this one, make sure it is eyeclean to your standards, as a diamond of that size might not be eyeclean, so you will need to check and make sure.

Blue Nile obtains their diamonds from a database. Did you do a pricescope check to see if any of the Pricescope vendors can get the stone? Then you could get a true analysis, scopes etc..

Also just a thought, although it is unlikely you may need it with a diamond of that size, but if you might ever want to trade in or your lady wishes to change shapes to a round perhaps, BN do not offer an upgrade policy, whereas some of the other vendors do, I just thought it might be worth mentioning.
