Good rainy morning to everyone!

We are designing our our ring and the jewler just sent me 2 designs of the same ring.... I always wanted the north south east west center prong setting which makes the diamond (round 1.06 ct) look more round.... but I also like the traditional setting which end up looking more square. I also like the fact that the n/s/e/w adds some solidity to the 2 prongs on the side as the cathedral is welded to them.... but I can''t decide on the look, and I wanted some opinions....

I love the NS orientation! It''s a unique twist and a lot of fun, IMO.

I like option A for one reason: When you are wearing the ring, you will mostly only see diamond from your point of view. I think this is the main reason for using a 4 prong setting. You get to see more of the diamond.

If you want the diamond to look more round, why not just get a six prong setting. I actually prefer the six prong, but if you are going to go for four prong, I would stick with option A.

Hmm Ice, I actually thought I would see more diamond from my point of view with option B, because when I look at my own hand it is always slanted a little diagonnally inward (such as when I type, eat, or write), it is rare that I have my hand straight forward perpendicularly to my body so that I can look at it straight on.... I figured that the North South allows me to see diamond from 4 angles, as opposed to 2 in option A due to the cathedral blocking the views from the 2 sides.... That''s why i would never get 6 prongs, its so pretty but its only good for a much larger diamond that mine.... ANy thoughts? Am I totally out to lunch?

LOL - good point. Rarely do we hold our hands completely perpendicular to our bodies!

I guess you''re right. You would probably know better than me how women view their rings on a daily basis (with me being a man who never wears rings and all).

Go with your first instict. I have come to learn that it is usually right. Either way, I think the ring will look beautiful.

Thank you, glad you like the designs.... any other thoughts on the rest of the setting...overall look, common prong setting, sidestones (10 x.05), any other details... ?

It''s true though, lol! Unless we are looking at our nails.... lol

Love B NS orientation of the prongs makes it even more unique!

I am starting to really lean towards the NS direction... i think we are gonna confirm sooooooon!!!!! it will be ready friday if we do!

I personally don''t love the NSEW orientation of the prongs - IMO if you want it to look rounder, go with a six prong.

Both are very lovely though, so if you like the NSEW, then go for it!! Don''t let my opinion sway you!!

I love the NSEW setting (B). I think it looks great from the side, it continues the band up through the prong -- very fluid!

I love 6 prongs... I just feel that it will be too much prong for a 1.06 ct center stone... i always felt that 6 prongs should be for bigger stones... so im trying to get a round feel with 4 prongs... not sure what to do just yet... i love both, trying to balance it out in my head with the help of votes... NSEW 3 - Traditional 2 so far

:)

I have a strong preference for option B. I think it looks better from the side.

4-2 NSEW.... can I have some more votes ppl?

A.

I prefer the contrast of the diagonal orientation of the prongs to the band, rather than it lining up NSEW. Just a personal aesthetic thing. If you like it NSEW then do it!

You just got me thinking if the East-West prongs will cover the first 2 sidestones from the top down view... so I asked the jewler to send me that view... will keep you posted...

4-3 so far

I agree. I feel like with option B the two "EW" prongs will block some of the pave.

I am kinda digging "B" , but how will it sit with a band?

I never thought of that before, thank you for pointing it out... I''m hoping that since the center prong setting is set higher up, on top of a barrel-like structure (with the 2 side accent diamonds on either side) it won''t interfere with the wedding band which will be normal size.... what do you think?

I prefer A. The surprise stone with the prong growing out of it is a bit busy for my taste.

Here is the top down view.... the east west prongs do hide the side stones a little bit, hmmm..... but i don''t foresee myself or anyone staring at it at a frozen 90 degree angle like this ever... so i don''t know how serious it is....

it is a bit busy, you''re right VR Beauty.... i guess that''s why I need people''s opinions... i am VERY particular, and VERY indecisive, so it helps!!!

Sorry here is the top down view...

What about if I ask for a flat all around band...and remove the cathedral...? aye or nay??

I would think this would hide the pave diamonds on the side even more if you were planning on going with the NSEW.

i like B as well for this design, my ring is also a four prong but set the usual way and i''ve never thought it made my rb look square
