Help me- Cushion or RB (very small budget)?

Hello pricescopers,

I'm still torn between a cushion (modern faceted) and a MRB. Now I need your advice- is it realistic to find a nice cushion within my budget (2000$, at JA or BN 2100$ since they ship for free) that faces up similiar to a 0.6-0.7ct RB? Or should I stick to finding a MRB which, I assume, will be a lot easier?

I think that should be first decided by your preference in shape.

If you can give us some more info about what you're looking for, it'd help.

What are your primary concerns for the stone? Do you strongly prefer a cushion? What color and clarity ranges can we look for? Does it just have to be eye-clean? Is florescence okay?

With a 2,000 budget, this is certainly doable. But with that, something has to give. If you want size, it will be at the expense of clarity and/or color. It is up to you, but the one thing I would not sacrifice is cut. It's cut that denotes the performance (or lack thereof) of the stone.

Here's a cushion for you to look at. It's the best one that I could find at your budget maximum.

Sorry for being unclear- I meant facing up in terms of size. Since I live in a country in Europe where fancy cuts are very hard to find I only saw one cushion to date and that one was, I think (after looking at the educational videos on GOG), a bad crushed-ice one. It was 1ct and didn't face up much bigger than a 0.53ct MRB I tried on as well.

That's a good question, I just don't know . On the one hand a MRB is classic, but a cushion would be something special (and I like the square look next to a wedding band).

I was thinking about not going lower than H (maybe I) and VS2. The cushion I looked at at the jeweler was said to be an I-J (don't know which lab graded it) and was definitely too tinted for my taste. But I think with a great cut I would go lower in colour, about clarity I'm not sure.

That's a fantastic stone! I'm not sure about the H&A though. I think I'd like to go for a modern cusion (?) like this (I would want more square than rectangular):

The diamond above may or may not. I can't tell, as there's not even a real image of the stone on their page. You would have to request an idealscope image and or aset to be able to tell. A video is always helpful as well.

Also, the stone you posted above is not very square like you had previously mentioned.

Furthermore, It's a VS 1 and certainly will not be the best bang for your buck. It also has a very thick girdle, and was cut for weight and not beauty.

Even with all this it could be a gorgeous stone, however. There's just no way to tell by the numbers, and what I do see I'm not in love with.
