Since you all are such experts, I know you will help me to make a decision about what I should put some disposable income towards! I still have Christmas money, birthday money and I won $500 unexpectedly. I have been good about saving--I didn't even touch last quarter's bonus, so I feel like I deserve to use this cash on something frivolous! Can you tell I am trying to justify spending money on myself

It's not a huge amount--about $1200. My options are:

1. a tsavorite. I love the color and have had my eye on them for a while.

2. An amethyst. My birthstone, and I love stones with bright, saturated deep pink tones/flashes. If I get an amethyst I'll probably be able to afford a setting too.

3. A color change stone--garnet or amethyst. I think color change is sooo cool!

4. Save the money to put towards an eternity band. I love Singlestone, but they are pricy so I feel bad asking for one as my wedding band, but I wouldn't feel so bad if I chipped in!

5. Put it towards an old cut diamond for a pendant or a pair for earrings. I don't have diamond studs, and I have been wanting an old cut.

What do you think? Or do you have a totally different idea? I'd love to know! Thanks!!!

Well...because I love single stones bands soo very much, I vote for the eternity band. I think it's a great idea to pitch and be sure to get what you really want. Good for you for deciding to do something nice for yourself! I vote go for it! :))

I would check out what is available on the prelove forum...that way you get more bang for your buck. However I would also probably do the SS wedding band. The CS's you mentioned are that expensive and the market is flooded with them so you should have no problem i the future finding them if you want to do something else.

Yeah, I agree...either put it towards your wedding band or save it for diamond studs or something. I wouldn't use it toward an inexpensive gemstone ring.

Although, I love tsavorites so if you do decide to go for a colored stone, I pick that one!

How about something like the Barbara pendant from BGD?

YES YES YES to this idea!

That's my plan for the OEC I purchased from Dreamer... can't wait!

I second the Barbara! I love mine.

Thanks for chiming in!!! I am going to save the $ for a little while. I will peruse the previously loved section, and if I find an old cut or two that make my heart sing I will buy for studs or a pendant. Otherwise I will use it towards a wedding band. I don't know if I could possibly find anything that I love more than those SS bands! I have been drooling since the moment I saw them. Oh, except perhaps the JbEG Elyse or Michele bands!!!

Good plan, tuffy! I have found over the years that there are pieces that sit in my jewelry box because I much more prefer the classic staple pieces in high quality. I always bought classic pieces, but I didn't always save for the highest quality and just bought when I wanted something which I now regret. It just works out better to save more and buy a few high quality classic pieces than to get a bunch of things that we may grow tired of or which might go out of style. Those SS bands would be an heirloom someday, and something you would always treasure.
