Hi everyone, I''ve been reading the forum for the past few months...okay I''ll be honest let''s make it 6 months :) Anyway, It seems it may finally be my time, and I''ve narrowed down my choices to two distinct styles:
Round Brilliant with baguettes on a platinum band vs. Radiant square/or slightly rectangular (you know, cut-cornered modified, etc) with trillions on a platinum band...I have some examples, but none of them are exactly right (of course) see log in name ...:)
Anyway, please give me your opinions...I love a nice big look....

I guess a picture of the radiant style I''m talking about is close to this:
http://www.diamondringforever.com/clearance/sale-4239-1.jpg (it''s just a photo I found)
and the round photo would be close to this:
http://antiques.motleys.com/files/auction-items/109.JPG

Any help/advice would be so appreciated!!!!
Thanks in advance,
Picky diamond LOVER!!!!!!

Have you been able to try either type on? Usually most people are round type people or square type people. What size stones are you talking
for the centers? Of those two I like the radiant better but it is a matter of personal opinion. To me it looks like you get more finger coverage
with the radiant but it all depends on what size stones you are using.

My personal choice would depend on the size of the center stone you are after for both. I like the look of a nice big finger covering radiant with side trillions, but if it''s a smaller radiant or a bigger finger and the finger coverage just isn''t there I personally don''t find it very appealing. However, I think a round with baguettes can look really nice almost regardless of the center stones size.

I agree with tyty333 also, if you were to try these styles on you may find you are either a round or a square person.

Radiant with trillions

Round with baguettes

that''s like asking someone if they like pickup trucks or sportscars - those are such different stones with such different settings... and totally 100% up to your own personal taste.

I would prefer Radiant with Trillions..
As personally I thought that Round are too common..
In my country and most of the world, round is like the normal thing out there.
And other fancy shapes are not readily available here.
Hence I prefer a taste of uniqueness..
But then again, that is I am never a round person though it gives the sparkly I loves.
I know I will get one when I age but that is after I score my love - Emerald then radiant.
Currently, I own a cushion...

Hope you find your love diamond soon...

I love both looks, but I happen to be one that really loves both squares and rounds. However, finding a well cut Radiant is a lot trickier than a round...

audball, thanks for the links!

Wow-thanks everyone for your responses-sorry about the non-clickable link...
I was able to sort of try on both styles, i.e. I looked at loose stones and held them in the structure they would be in with side-stones on my hand... The center stone will hopefully be somewhere between 2-2.6 cttw...does that change anyone''s opinion...
The thing is, I always thought I was a square girl...then I realized I was into diamond size unfortunately, and when I lined up radiants and rounds of the same size, the round always appeared bigger. Then I realized when you compare the two different shapes of the same cttw with the respective side stones (trillions with the radiant) baguettes with the round, the radiant although smaller looking when the stone is alone, might appear bigger when it meets it''s trillions...
This is a good and lucky decision to have to make, but I still need to decide which is best for me...
I''m starting to think you can''t go wrong with the round, and there might be more room for something to go wrong with the radiant possibly...meaning like someone said earlier, it''s harder to find a good cut radiant vs. a round brilliant.
Thanks again everyone-this is exciting nonetheless!!!
I do like that radiant/trillion finger coverage, but on a 2.5 cttw radiant it may not actually cover even though it''s quite sizable especially with the trillions...Round appears nice and big regardless right?

Ditto - I have a Princess and I rarely see ANYONE where I live with a 1ct + ring like mine but I see plenty of RBs (although many of the RBs are fake). Having said that, RBs are a classic look

I like the radiant with trillions.

I don''t like radiants or trillions, so I would pick the round. But I''m not the one whose opinion matters here.

Ooh, shopping by proxy. My favourite kind of shopping

I understand why you are drawn to these two setting styles. They offer a very flattering taper on the finger, and they are the exact settings I would be torn between as well if I was tossing up between a round or a radiant.

Personally I think the radiant will give you more coverage, and I love that particular setting in the link you posted. But that said, I think baguettes give lovely flashes of fire and they make for very nice sidestones. You should go into some stores and try on both styles to see which suits your hand more.

I like the radiant w/trillions better. I don''t so much care for tapered baguettes..that''s just me tho.

LOL. I don''t like radiants, either. I think round with baguettes is such a beautiful, classic look. The radiant is more of a modern, acquired taste, which for some reason, I have never acquired.
