After searching and searching, changing my mind many times and deciding finally for a solitare I have come up with three settings from three different vendors:

The three settings are in the picture and labeled, they will be set with a princess cut 1 ct diamond AGS-000 or pretty close to it (I know isaac uses GIA but I told him what I was looking for), they are all within $100 of each other and are all platinum.

I just can not make up my mind so I am asking for opinions from you guys.

I like how the good old gold tapers at the top but I like how dimend's shows the diamond more because it does not have the bars like the x-prong.

Anyhow I posted a poll but am also interested in your opinions.

thanks

Bryan

doh, I messed up the poll and cant find where to edit it so just ignore the poll, if a mod can delete it or change the 3rd option to the dimend scaasi thanks!

I really like the "Tulip" because it''s different... but will your girl like it? It might be just enough "not normal" that she won''t like. If that''s the case, then I like the one from GOG better. And there''s nothing wrong with the other one either, I just like the other two more.

My gf has seen the pic of the "tulip" along with a bunch of others I sent as decoys and she told me she likes it. The only problem with the whiteflash also it that its 4mm wide which I think might be pretty wide for my gf, her ring size is 6 and she is only 5 feet tall 100 pounds so anything of relative size looks big on her.

All three are very similar looks & I guess I''m just not a fan of any of them. To my eye/mind -- A one carat square stone in a plain shiny platinum wide band like that might
a) blend in (not POP)
b) look more "masculine" than "girly"

When you say you''ve considered a lot of other options, were some of those thinner bands? Or sparkly bands?

How did you narrow it down to these three?

It was originally between that style ring or one with channel set diamonds on the sides of some sort. I actuatook her to a B&M today to try one on and she liked it very much, I just want a little bit fancier setting than just a plan 4 prong. I actually am not looking for that wide of a band which is why I like the tulip look because it looks to be the thinnest.

The reasoning for a princess is simply because it is what she wants, I could try to explain to her about a round but I want to get her what she really wants.

The reason it is platinum is because she is allergic to white gold and does not wear much regular gold at all, mostly she wears sterling silver which would work better with the platinum.

So my choices were really narrowed down, I would hope I would get a "pop" just from the quality I am sooting for in the stone and as for the masculine comment, the ones she tried on today did not look masculine but I understand what you mean if it were to be a wider band.

my vote is the dimend scaasi one because it''s unique but still classic and the band seems thin but not cheap. 2nd vote is the vatche x prong but i''m kind of bored with that one, and the wf one seems too big and bulky in those pictures.

I like a square stone in the x-prong. I don''t like the tulip so I''d go with either the GOG or WF.

As I said the whiteflash is 4mm wide which does seem too wide for her so it seems as if it is down to the GOG or the scaasi. Unless of course any of you have a secret place with a similar ring (or a nice trellis setting but I couldnt find one I liked) that you could reccomend.

Hey Bryan ... I think my post came across too matter-of-fact. BELIEVE ME ... you''ll have PLENTY OF POP with a well-cut, gorgeous, one carat princess!!! And I''m a huge fan of platinum - so, I''m with you there too ...

I''ve just noticed a few P-scope posters who originally had 1 ct stones in wider X-type settings have liked them at first but ended up getting "diamond shrinkage syndrome" faster than gals who have settings with thinner bands, because the stone seems to look proportionally larger next to a smaller band, or a band that tapers inward toward the stone.

Maybe some of those gals will see this thread & toss in their 2 cents (I''m not naming names!

I really like the looks of the dimend scassi "tulip" I find it very unique and different. Definetly a conversation piece!

I vote for the tulip, I like the fact that it''s slightly asymetrical, it''s very classic but not boring. I think your gf will love it.

Vatche. WF is too wide. And I don''t like the tulip. Vatche is elegant, a little daintier than the others, and very nice.

ditto..

I vote for the Tulip.

It looks like the crowd is just as mixed between the tulip and the Vatche as I am.

Maybe I will look deeper into the diamonds and store policies of GOG and dimend to see which one I want to choose.

Ditto here, too. I have always loved the Vatche X-prong with the channel set princess stones on the sides.

heh, just like the one I posted above... I think it is beautiful but I would have to take a hit on the center rock to get it.

My vote is for the Vatche X-prong but I''m attaching a picture that I saved of someone''s e-ring that is the WF X-prong. I love it! I don''t think it''s any wider than Vatche''s, personally. Also, your gf should try on wedding bands with the X-prong/trellis settings as wedding bands do not sit flush with them.

thanks for the more detaled picture...

I went to d. Vatches website and I looked at all of his rings and I love his royal x-prong as well as the Royal X Prong With Princess Channel. So I am back up to 3 depending on how much the royal x-prong with princess channel would cost me.

D. Vatche also makes a wedding band that fits along his x-prongs according to his website.

Ahhh I am really just driving myself CRAZY!!! I need to make a decision and stick with it but I can't, I keep looking and looking and thinking ohh I like this oh wait I like that ect ect.

Simply put:
The Vatche royal x-prong is going to run me about $1400
The vatche royal x-prong with princess cut diamonds is going to run me about $2200
and the tulip from dimend is about $1400

I just need to sit down and make up my mind so this madness can stop.

please tell me im not the only one to do this with picking my e-ring?

I''ve tried on the Vatche and I think it''s lovely, so it gets my vote. I didn''t end up going with it myself, because it wasn''t modern enough!

If I may ask, what did you go with that was more modern?

I am looking for a mix of modern and classic and I thnk the vatche fits well in that category.
