Help me choose Diamond Studs

Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker first time poster. I am due to be coming over to NYC for a holiday and want to purchase some everyday stud earrings. Eventually I want to be able to modify so that I am able to add drops on etc to dress up when I go to more formal events. I am stuck on several options.

Option 1:
2 carat total carat, F-G colour (considering a H depends on the price), eye clean, higher than very good cut. Round. Micro white diamond halo removable jacket

Option 2:
1.5-1.7 total carat, F/G/H, eye clean, higher than very good cut. Round. Argyle Pink micro halo (think the Martin Katz Tobey Diamond Stud Earrings).

Option 3:
Bit left field. 2 carat fancy yellow, white diamond halo. Radiant cut.


All opinions will be appreciated! I am thinking of going to IDJ in NYC, any other recommendations?

If you dont have white studs I would suggest you go with those. If you want some color then go with the pink or yellow jackets.
Don't have any suggestions in NY except ID Jewelry.

For colored jackets you might look at DBL. I dont see any on their website but I could swear that they did colored jackets for
someone on PS.

White diamond halo jackets will be so much more wearable than color. However, having multiple pairs of jackets would be nice!

Please stick with Excellent cut only for the diamond. That is a very broad category and really, you want the better stones of those. You can tell IDJ that you want GIA EX cut and Pricescope quality with a good idealscope image. They will understand. F-G color over a carat each will be fairly expensive. Mine are H color and totally white and bright on the ears due to being well cut.

Definitely go with ideal cut GIA 3X stones and drop the color to get more ctw and spread. I'm not a jackets person as they are too dressy for my life so I'd prefer to put more money into the center stones. IDJ is great, they'll work with your budget and specs to get the best combo. I recently upgraded my studs through them.

Thanks so much for your replies! I am certainly leaning toward just getting the single stone now. I have a budget of $8,000. What specs do you think I should be asking for?
