Hi! I am looking to have an engagement ring created in the next week and I need some advice. So much information on these forums, it is overwhelming but a big help. Here are two that I am deciding between, if you have any suggestions for others, that would be greatly appreciated. The setting will be platinum, ring size 4.25. Really looking for the biggest rock possible that will sparkle like crazy!

Thanks.

There is a significant price difference between these two. Max budget is 22k for the entire ring so the whiteflash is pushing the limits a bit. Was really hoping for 2 carats but that seems unlikely.

Thanks! :)

The choices you've laid out look like great diamonds, but I'll let the experts comment....

I will say that I am also searching now with a similar budget and would prefer a 2ct stone also. You can absolutely make that happen with $20k, but you will likely need to come down a bit on color. I'll be curious to see what you end up getting. Good luck!

Yes, I have seen some BG blues but I will let some experts let me know if those perform well enough to consider to get to 2 carats. They are K or L color with fluorescence. Good luck on your search as well.

You have a good dilemma! Both of those stones are great choices and top performers. Well done!

I would opt to go with the vendor that stocks the setting you're looking for.

If that does not make the decision for you, decide whether you'd like a slightly larger stone or would like to put more money into the setting. The GOG option will give you more money for the setting, the WF stone will be slightly larger (face-up diameter).

If that still does not make the decision for you, ask GOG to make a video of that stone along with two others in the same price range, to see if you are able to judge in the compare-and-contrast arrangement. WF may also be able to take some side-by-side pictures for the same purpose.

Either way, you're going to end up with a winner!

Anyone think WF ACA is worth the premium over the GOG Superior?

For the budget you can afford to get the biggest rock and best cut. That is what you need to focus on. It is after all what is seen that makes the difference. After you balance size and cut, you can afford to drop a bit on Color and Clarity. Definitely stick with only Ideal Excellent Cut. If are still in budget go for VVS2 or VS1 on clarity with a G or H color. That combined with as I stated Ideal cut and stone size will bring the bling you're looking for. Good luck with your choice. They both look spectacular.

Thanks for the incite so far!

What does everyone think of this stone:

I know, it is L, but I have heard so many great things about BG blues in terms of value that the price seems great. How would this perform vs the other diamonds?

The performance will be GREAT on that stone.

The only thing you need to do is ensure the recipient is okay with lower-colored stones. An L-colored stone will definitely have a body tint, which some people do not like (others actually prefer it!).

My only other concern would be that inclusion in the dead center of the table. I would inquire further, if this was the stone you were after.
