Help me choose a setting for Mom''s Xmas present

My mom loves gemstones (although she tends to go for the well-known ones - i.e. sapphires, emeralds, rubies, etc.) so I bought her a round sapphire from Dan Stair, and I''m going to set it into a ring for Christmas. The sapphire is on the smaller side - it''s 0.82 ct., around 5.5 mm and it''s going to go into a halo, antiquey setting from one of the ebay stores we''ve been discussing on this forum. So here are a couple pictures of the stone (it''s dark in the pics bc my lighting is bad) and on my hand to get a sense of size. My mom has size 7 fingers, and she loves bling. So let me know what you think and thanks!

Since it''s for a mom I''ll say #2, simply because people, when they come to certain age, can pull off bigger jewellery much easier than youngsters. It also looks more serious, elegant and more graceful on them. Besides, if the lady loves bling, then get her bling

Thanks everyone! So far it is 3 votes for #1, and 7 votes for #2. Please keep the opinions coming, but I think I'm leaning towards the second one right now - I liked the bigger halo because it seems like it'd provide more finger coverage for my mom, and more bling

Although, I'm already bidding on a round halo setting for myself (had no trouble figuring out my preference

) and I've found a pretty green tourmaline for it!
