Help me analyze IdealScope image?

Hello all,

I bought a "beginner idealscope" just for fun and I did my best to take a photo. It is my 0.98ct Leo diamond, G , SI2. 6.20x6.24x3.99mm round. Leo''s have extra facets which is why it looks a little different.

Can you guys help me read what I am seeing? I love my diamond so I wont be offended by any comments. I would just like to learn more about my diamond

It looks great and you did an excellent job with the pics! I will post my fave comparison chart for you so you can see what to look for, but your image looks really good!

ETA - the site where the chart is doesn't appear to be working at the moment....I will try again later.

Anyway your image looks nice and red - no apparent leakage that I can see from that image, it also looks as if the diamond has longer lower girdle facets which I particularly like, you have a lovely stone!

There were a lot of blurry ones before I got to this one! It was hard! I used scotch tape to tape the beginner idealscope onto my camera. It''s pretty lightweight so it was enough to hold it there. Then, I set my camera on macro focus and I zoomed way in. The hardest part was holding it still enough to get a clear photo. I ended up putting it on a timer so that I wouldnt shake the camera by pressing down on the button.

I am so happy that it looks good!!! Any other feedback is greatly appreciated!

Can you see the skinny arrows? That is how I can tell - very bascially and generally shorter LGF's can produce ' fatter' arrows, longer can produce thinner, I will find some info which might help.

I just figured out how to make a side by side in Photoshop. And I lined them up so they are at the same angle. The Idealscope seems to make it easier to pick out the carbon inclusion betwen 11 and 12 o''clock. That is a good identification tool for future reference. It is eye clean, but the inclusion can be seen with a loupe or with the idealscope, (or in this case with a camera magnification).

Correct - it is not a lgf issue - the Leo has a set of 8 additional facets on the lower pavilion causing this effect.
Great photo''s - welll done - and it should be very bright

I sort of figured that''s what you did but even taping the idealscope to the camera lens is not easy - I''ve tried it!

You got a really good shot - and the stone is beautiful!
