Help!! marquise 1.23

Hi!
I have been doing all sorts of research on this wonderful site. Just wanted to get some opinions on a Marquise stone that My husband and are thinking about purchasing.

the stone is eye clean, very pretty to me.... it is EGL USA cert

HI:

Welcome! Fancy shapes are rather difficult to judge by the numbers--you said the stone looked "pretty to you" and that is a very good start. Have you seen many other marquise--they come in different proportions--to compare this stone to?

I see it holds an EGL--USA cert. I would get this stone independently appraised--to see if the specs are congruent; as EGL has been known to be "softer" on their grading than say, GIA. For example, if you are paying for an F colored stone, then you want to be assured it is indeed, F colored.

I know I mentioned that fancies are hard to judge by numbers, but here is some reading nonetheless.

Thank you so much for your helpful reply : ) I have looked at quite a few marquise stones. I really like the 1.8 to 1.9 ratio. This one is 1.9. Going to check out that website! Thanks!

BTW, you can do a search for availability and prices of diamonds elsewhere with similar specs to "yours": use the database (PS your diamond at the top of the page) and see what it yields.
